The 2nd gen uses the RA60F (AY-6), the 3rd gen uses the RC62F.

I am wondering what was updated myself.

Highly recommend a weighted shift knob! I've put one on a S2000(different brand but same concept) and now my SR 5-speed. Shifts pretty much effortless now. I lost my right hand in a car accident when I was 18 and I shift with my stump so it really helps me.

 

Do any of your 3rd gen 6MT have slight resistance and/or notchyness shifting out of 1st gear?

 

And yes, obviously I still love driving manuals. The majority of vehicles I've had since the accident(happened almost 18 years ago) have been manuals

 

Correct, and only on the diesel. About 40k min to get a ram with a stick, and that'll be for a regular cab work truck.

 

yeah i have one of those and i also have a really beautiful custom knob from them that i haven't installed yet because i prefer the Goliath. i really love the feel of this one, the weight is fantastic, and the height is what i like the most.

 

Is there anyone that will help answer my previous question? Will appreciate.

 

Relative to the notchiness shifting from 1-2?

It's definitely notchy on mine, though I wouldn't necessarily say it is resisting. It feels kind of like 1 to 2 isn't a straight line down. Changing my MT fliud helped quite a bit to make it smoother. It definitely still does it though.

Good idea. I used Amsoil and it made a huge difference. As a matter of fact, I was about a day away from purchasing a heavier shift knob, but the feel after the fluid change helped quite a bit.

I came from a WRX as well. I suppose one major mutual attraction is they are both great in inclement weather with the AWD and 4WD. In addition to that, they are both vehicles that harbor an enthusiast following. For example, before my WRX, I had an Integra. When checking out the Subaru forums, I found many former Integra owners also moved onto a WRX. When I picked up my BMW 135, I found many WRX and STI owners had also moved to BMW.

I have a quick question about the keys on our MT trucks.

I would like to have a spare key to hide on the truck that will unlock and start it. I know they came with two keys, but I would like to keep those separate (and nice). Does anyone offer a generic version without the key fob that would work good in a pinch? We keep spare keys on all our vehicles and they have been life savers sooooo many times! Sorry if this has already been addressed and thank you for any help!

 

You can get a cheap key made that will unlock the door, but for the Ignition to work it needs a chip in it.

 

shakerhood to the rescue again! Thanks for the info. As much as a "unlock key" would help I think I would still like to have both the unlock and ignition work. Any ideas.....or just the damn dealership?

Never owned an automatic, wife, son and now daughter all drive manual. My mother in law drove manual up until she passed away a couple of years ago at the age of 82. I drive a 10 speed for work every day. I had to wait 3 1/2 months to get this Taco, according to the dealer there where only 3 manuals in Canada at the time of purchase.

 

Well an option would always be to hide 1 of the original keys inside the Truck and then use a cheap key to open the door. These damn chipped keys are on the expensive side, they always figure out a way to fleece you, lol.
