Wheel just fell off... on side of road could use advice

    Thanks for the offer... still roadside as of now but I think I'll get it sorted.

    Trying to get brake drum on and the newly installed lugs keep popping off.. just a matter of time before I can get it I hope.

    I'm guessing you egg shaped the stud holes in the flange and now the bolts want to spin as you tighten up the lug nuts?

    We would find some thin metal to make a shim between the bolt and the bolt holes. Any type of wire works too. You just need it in place long enough to get the nut to tighten

    Just got home... all went well on drive home.

    Wanted to thank everyone for the help, and wanted to give special thanks to @koditten @EDDO and @Sandman614 For the SOLID advice, especially the youtube video, that came in clutch for sure.

    Also very special thanks to @MotoEd He really was ready to go, pmd me saying he could be there in a jiffy!




    Can't believe that all went so well... was cruising at about 70 and it felt like a got a flat tire in the rear, pull of road and rear end drops.. get out and axle is laying in dirt, wheel sitting crooked in wheel well (somehow no body damage). Luckily I carry a full arsenal of tools, and they came in handy. Couldnt believe how easily it was fixed after loading up on some knowledge from good old TacomaWorld... alot of people joke about how much money this site makes them spend, I would bet it has saved people more!

    Glad to hear you guys made it home fine. I'd change out all the studs on the rear axle to be on the safe side since they've already shown to have been stressed at some point.

    The replacement of the studs is great advice, but think twice about using Doorman studs. I've had no luck using parts from this source.

    Where you type, right next to where you click post it says -upload file- click that. Click -choose file-. Click-documents- then select the folder your picture is in and select your picture. Once you do that, at the bottom a thumbnail will pop up. Click -full image- then click post. Or add any comments then click post
