Update: Service advisor called me today letting me know there were people ahead of me that he was in aware of from July for the recall. My parts will be here in October
I tell him my rear end is still making noise and that it's louder than last time. He said to keep driving and if it let's go we'll take care of it, there's nothing we can do at this time till we get your parts it's highly unlikely.

Now my leads are squeaking up a storm

This is worst than my 04 ford ranger with 209k on it wtfffff

My Trd sport has been in for 56 days and still no parts eta. Called corporate and their computer says that dealer didn't start recall process or order parts. So I mentioned my vehicle now qualifies for a buyback after 30 days without a fix. I was assigned a case manager. Lets see how this turns out. Btw 1st post fellas.

Got mine back and they replaced more than the gasket. Looks like they replaced the whole differential. I knew it could not have been just a gasket.

I know you guys have gasket issues. My issue is the last 2 TRDOR's, thats right I had TWO different trucks. Both identical issues with howling/whinning and the bearing going bad. I wonder what Lentz will and Toyota will do for me. I have a sample of fluid that shows its burnt/cooked that caused the failure.

My guess is the morons who built it can't install gaskets nor fill up the proper fluid levels and or install a gearset..

Man, I am getting old, just realized after looking at Toyota's web sight, $750 doesn't buy you much these days! Time for the cheap hooker and a stake joke.

So I'm about to go on day 80 without my truck. Emailed corporate. Called corporate. and nobody seems to have an answer.
It's been extremely frustrating, not even corporate could answer why it's taking so long, all they did was "Log" my complaint in the their system.

Even just an estimation date for the parts, or a reasonable explanation of why it's taking so long would make me understand the wait but man it's been frustrating not getting any answers from Toyota.

The reason it is taking so long is Toyota is only ordering parts based on trucks that come in, then they have to get extras made and the production line has priority. Toyota doesn't want to tell you that they have no interest to expedite parts to existing customers since they already have your money. I almost guarantee you could go out and by parts online and get them in a week or so. It's all about how to minimize expenses on the quarterly earnings report.

This recall has been ongoing since April, parts could have easily been made available if they wanted to. All new truck sales were halted in the beginning of the recall, but didn't take long at all for those trucks to be fixed.

Exactly that. Many dealers said the same to me, NOTHING will be ordered
until a tech has inspected it and let service what it needs.

Finally got around to taking mine in(VIN was on recall), it was dry as a bone, told them the same, they
agreed, said it was checked, found dry and re-torqued to spec and marked as DONE.

Since I retorqued my own bolts, filled half a liter and cleaned the diff, I haven't seen any leaks (post above). I finally got around to taking it in this weekend for my normal maintenance but knew they weren't going to do anything since it was dry. For those of you in socal, I took mine to Crown Toyota and they were very accommodating. I told them what I had done and showed them my pics. Of course they can't use my pics and could only go off what they physically inspected which I knew but wanted them to know that there was an issue before the recall happened. They said they would check the fluid level only and wouldn't close the recall just in case it leaks in the future. So I left after my normal maintenance was done and the recall is still open and all fluids were fine. Nice to have this just in case and they were very helpful.

Took my 17 TRD OR in today to have it checked for what I thought was weeping. Apparently I'm wrong and Toyota is right. Was told by the service manager that "Rear differential is spot not considered a leak by Toyota standards". Is my diff weeping or am I just crazy?IMG_0412.jpgIMG_0413.jpg

    Looks ok to me.

ORs on the recall anyhow. They'd probably just retorque the nuts and send you on your way.

Nope, that's a leak, a very slight leak (weeping/seeping/whateverthefukyouwanttocallit) but
it needs to be addressed under the recall.

They didn't do anything. No torque or anything, at least they didn't mention it to me, nor is it on the comments of their service sheet.

2017 OR here. I checked the rear on May 9 when the diff recall news was just starting. I saw some small weep marks with 2k miles on the truck.
    20170509_125334.jpg

I ended up torquing the bolts to 33 ft*lbs and wiped it down with simple green so I could track any additional leaks. 4k miles later, no additional marks.
