The knocking it does when he gets on it while its smoking dosnt sound like rod knock, it sounds more like fuel knock. Its pinging. But the white smoke is hard to expain. Im not sure if an engine thats running lean will smoke white or at all. I guess i just need to research it some more see if i can find some facts to back up my hypothesis.

Note: I paused the video @ 0:52 because it made my gut hurt.

I have basically zero experience in diagnosing problems by sound, as I have nothing but what textbooks tell me something should sound like when it's wrong.

However, the first thing that came to my mind when I heard it and trying to imagine what it was, was something going wrong with the variable timing, like the valves seating too late because his throttling, obviously, is all over the place. I don't see that being the cause of all this smoke we're looking at. Unless it's trying to open them too soon and it's not combusting all the way, then as more fuel-air comes in, it burns the residue and causes the smoke?

 

Also, keep in mind that ^^ is probably a bunch of bullshit and may have abso-fuccin-loutely nothing to do with it.

 

at 0:52 was just him bouncing onto his skids I do believe. get to the 2 minute mark and the clicking/smoke begins.

Because the way his truck shifted and the ensuing noise and jarring hurt my gut.
