Oh and thats not fair because the Jeep is geared differently for torque...thus making it slower. I don't wanna go fast...just get anywhere I wanna go :)

Well, good for you. That's really ignorant thinking.

There are damn good jeeps & jeep owners out there and you've decided to be prejudice againest all of them because of some dumb asses.

There are some dumb ass Toyota owners out there, and believe me - I've wheeled with enough of them.

It's people like you - on both sides - who give the offroading hobby a bad name.

    Honestly?

I wheeled with my 3.4L manual 96 tacoma (years ago) so I don't know how the 4.0L tacomas compare...

But when I bought the jeep and started wheeling it... the 4.0L jeep has some seriously more torque than the tacoma did.

You can literally be on a major incline, let the clutch out slowly (no gas) and the thing starts pulling the jeep forward - again, no gas neede. No rolling backwards.... It's frigin awesome.

most jeeps have a lower gearset in 4L than tacos.. depinding on model of jeep it could be really really low. the t-18 tranny has a 6:32:1 1st gear my t-98 is 4:03:1 which is still way lower than any toyota tranny i know of. going off memory actual #'s might vary

Hey Oxi...I don't see to many Military vehicle rock climbing...Like I said Solid axles beat IFS in articulation 10-1...I don't really give a fuck what the Military uses as its vehicles...stick to the race track bro, it seems thats about the only knowledge you have about any competition to enter a Taco or a jeep in...

The main thing is that with a soild front axle you can have a locker...it'd be pretty hard to accomplish that in a IFS and make it fully functional a true 4x4 vehicle will go way more places than a reg. 4x4 ( 2 tires spinning...1 in the rear and 1 in the front...unless you got the TRD Off Road Package of course)

Just sayin...oh yea, and nice "fully functional spoiler"

Just giving Jeeps credit & bonus points, since everyone (who probably never owned one) is bashing them.

I had both 92/94 Wrangler with AX15 tranny. Ironically, those trannies were produced in Japan. You'll get a kick out of the second paragraph on this website. Not sooo different afterall. :D

    Oh, and by the way....
Those SAS tacomas are frigin AWESOME!!!!!!

If I could take all the knowledge I've learned in the past 10 years of wheelin & working on vehicles and applied it when I bought my 96 (in 99) - I swear, I would've SAS that thing!!!

Back then, not many folks had SAS tacomas and I was as green as they come in terms of working on vehicles.

yes the humvee maybe obsolete now.. as far as replacing the rockwell axles with IFS cause they were breaking shafts.. sure does happen. but IFS does NOT send near the power through the cv shafts. there is a hub reduction box afterwards that gives the gearing. as where a solid axle is in the diff pushing a SHITLOAD more torque to the shafts. thats why they break.. like i said IFS in civillian vehicles is for a comfy ride and highspeed running not what a jeep is designed to do..which is go anywhere. military uses IFS because it puts less stress on shafts and has higher clearance.

LJ's haul groceries good and if you really wanted to be able to haul a couch and not get high centered in a driveway look into a brute conversion by aev. it has a bed yes a BED similar to yours. and the LJ can haul 4 ppl comfy and be safe on the highway. but you could always say that not factory blah blah blah. cj 8's had a bed too straight from the factory
