This is my first Toyota and my first post. I really like my new truck, but i hate the little tires and wheels. If anybody has some suggestions and some pics of what to do to make this ride look sharp, i really need some advice. What brand and what sizes are best does the already low suspension need to be altered. Are there problems with the tire pressure sensors ect......

the biggest tire size you can go without lift is 265/75/16, and your choice on rims

Got an SR5 or a TRD? 5 or 6 lug? Do you like chrome or black? Don't get Kumho Road Ventures for the tires...mine have sucked.

First thing I replaced on my truck were the wheels for some beefier ones. Later I painted the wheels.

I just got a set of Mastercrafts, and before that I had Mickey Thompsons, and I LOVED those tires. They last a long time and were worth digging into my pocket a little more. I was sad to see them go :(

Thanks for the replies, i seemed to have solved the problem with a set of 255/70/r15 tires. It does not look as good as some custom wheels and a bigger size, but it is adequate for the time being on a brand new truck. Toyota should be ashame of themselves for putting those little wheel barrow tires on the new and bigger Tacoma.

Looks much better good choice on tire size. I saw someone's truck here that had painted 5-lug wheels in black, it looked much better than in silver.

I agree. Painting the wheels isn't difficult. I'd be happy to offer assistance and there are a lot of good write-ups on it too. I'm happy with my black wheels. It was an inexpensive way to get the look I wanted.

Some of the 5 lug guys have X-runner wheels on and they look really good...and you can always paint those black too...looks sick.

Hey JDAWG, any problem with rub?
I was looking at getting that same size on my base, but wasn't positive they'd fit.

Looks MUCH better than the lawnmower tires we get from the factory!!

No problems at all. Everybody loves the better look, some even thought i got a lift. This is what the truck should have had to start with. It looks great and rides much better. The only draw back is the speedometer is now 5mph slower than you are going, but you get better MPG because of less tire Revs per mile.

Yea, I really hate the look of the stock tires on some of the 2nd gen tacomas... nothing smaller than 245/75/16 (my stock SR5 V6 tires) should come on these.
