Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

I've been using ECT and honestly not a single complaint about power or shifting...no surging, no lugging, throttle is perfect. It would be great if it could skip a gear to downshift when power is needed but aside from that, love it.

 

what map are you on, 1.02b ( that is the latest, correct? )

 

First full it since running 1.02. For 225miles(uncalibrated)/tank. 100% city driving. Readjusted for my tire size, that's ~285/miles. I do think this time helps MPG a bit.

 

I'm refraining from using ECT until I've used the 1.02 map without it for a while, so far I'm rather happy with it, it has made a huge difference to being in traffic.

 

Yup. I went without ECT for the first 100 miles to get a feel for drive alone. It was pretty good, but not like ECT. Mesojdm is making a fully plug and play ECT always on mod so I figured I might as well see how this tune using ECT 100% feels and yessir...it's good.

 

Has anyone else had PCM Flash randomly get removed from your computer? It happened to me about a week ago. I thought maybe I messed it up.

Then today I looked and its gone.

Yes. Keeps happening to me. I mark it as legit.. but windows keeps flagging it. So I keep a copy on my USB along with tune files... it gets Annoying

 

Yup, that's what Windows defender will do to it. You have to mark it safe in defender.

I think it says you take action and one action is to allow it. By the time it's asked you to take action it probably already removed it. Mine did...been there since after marking it good

him for a plug and play option.

what is removing it? defender?

If so, go into defender > setting and look for exclusions and add
it to the list of excluded files and do the same for types & locations.

that you'd do in Defender that I typed above.

Yeah, I bought this garbage just for the tune. I hate Microsoft products.

 

Didn't read the thread all weekend, glad to see the good news. Now I noticed only up shift is mentioned as being fully controllable now. Are the downshifts entirely separate or are they linked together somehow?

 

What I did was dedicate a laptop just for tuning, and uninstalled Defender (Windows 7). Amazing how fast that old thing runs with an SSD and no anti virus at all.

 

Same here. Its got stuff from the bmw i tuned with it still loaded on it

 

I have the Virtual Box set up on my Mac and the only thing I use the Windows 10 for is the tune. I've turned off Windows Defender altogether. I receive tune files on my Mac, save to a USB, disconnect from wifi, open virtual box and do my tuning so I don't worry about virus problems on the Windows installation since it's never connected to the interwebs

 

That nuke plant runs on Macs?

 

If he can "fully control" the transmission shifting, to me that sounds like he can control both upshifts and downshifts.

 

He said he was able to look at the shift maps and there's 100 different possibilities for shift points. Not that he had 100% control or that he changed anything yet.
