What facets of this game did Bama not dominate?

No point in going through the whole thing again. I would, because I think such a complete domination on one side of the ball (even when paired with a paltry 3 score margin on the other) is enough to cross the threshold of severe beatdown. But it's my opinion, and as they say, opinions are like assholes.

again, how many times have you ever watched a team continuously get held to field goals and think they were dominating? how many times have you ever seen other teams score late 4th quarter TDs and go "eh that doesn't really reflect it since it was so late"? how many times have you ever said a team had a great offense when they in fact had the worst NFL combine scoring QB in history?

again, I never said it wasn't an impressive feat by Alabama. I never said they didn't have LSUs number and didn't shut them down. I said it doesn't constitute a "whooping" in my opinion, and that I would never use the same verb to describe what MSU did to LSU as I would what Alabama did to LSU.

You guys do realize you are arguing with the guy whose team lost both games right? It bothers you enough that my opinion is different from yours to keep discussing it with me..which leads me to believe you feel like I am right.

Literally no point to this. It was a dominating performance, but it doesn't rise to the level of stronghammer's definition of whoopin.

Bama has beat-down plenty of teams, but a beat-down whopping game never feels boring like the NC Bama vs LSU. There was always the chance that LSU was going to wake up and start playing ball! Remember the commentators- saying LSU is going to show up...yea I know they never did.

Now the NC Bama vs Notre Dame was an all out beat down, never any doubt, stomping or any other words you want to describe...

you know, research shows that telling (providing facts to back up the claim as well) someone they are wrong triggers the same receptors as physical pain, and causes them to go into a defensive emotional state and dig deeper into their original statement. the light scares them away instead of leading them out of the darkness...

Alabama averaged 6.9 yards per pass
    MSU averaged 7.8

Alabama averaged 4.3 yards per rush
    MSU averaged 5.9

Alabama scored 5 field goals and 1 TD, 21 points.
MSU scored 3 field goals and 4 TDs, 37 points.

Alabama had to pass for 34 attempts.
MSU only had to pass for 23, and they rushed 48 times because LSU couldn't stop them.

Alabama defense held better, as I have said, but offensively no.

so you'd use the same verb to describe that game as you would the LSU NC? your definition is broad if you would.

    yes.

As we've discussed, our opinions are different here.

I believe you can have a whoopin without running up the score.

21 points was as many or more than any team put on La State that year except for one. The Tigers' defense was the best or 2nd best in the country, and was LOADED.

One could make the argument that 21 points against that defense was as much/more than 37 points against this year's defense.

I can agree with your last statement that you can make that argument to an extent because that defense was stacked. It was unbelievable really.

But I stand behind saying that field goals do not equal dominance or whooping. Never have, never will. They equal victory sometimes, but that's about it.

The game can be close and still be dominant by one team. bama didn't score much in that championship game, and it wasn't exactly a blow out, but it was an absolutely dominating performance.

Just don't let Herschel Walker on the field Saturday night! I'll never forget him. They don't make enough stars for Herschel- you need something else to describe him!

never tried to take away from the dominance, don't believe I did, I kept saying it was an impressive feat and they had LSUs number. just wouldn't use the same verb to describe the 2 games.

sorry 5 field goals just isn't whooping...

I have to side with Bama folks here

domination and whoopin etc can be a wide spread set of variables and pretty much everyone that's not an LSU fan will agree that LSU got whipped in that game...even if they managed to put together enough defense to hold Bama to field goals
