Rust!!

ok Ive had my 2010 TRD DC for a little less than 2 months now, Today I washed and detailed it, while drying it off with my towel i noticed a bunch of little rust spots like freckles on the rear bumper on the chrome, it was only on the passenger side though and theres no way for it to be hit with rocks to chip away the chrome... has anyone else noticed this on theirs?

My bumper is fine and it's an 07. Have you tried some wax or chrome polish just to see if maybe it'll come off?

 

I've heard this before...take it back to Yota and be like wtf!?!?!?!...they'll replace it if you kick up enough fuss

 

yep i think ill be coating mine this weekend, ill have to talk to the dealer about the bumper...

I would go back to the dealer. This has been hashed over in at least two threads and Toyota has acknowledged there is an issue with the chrome bumpers.

I'm sure they'll work it out with ya.

 

I've seen a thread in the past where someone found rust on their chrome bumper. Never heard anyone having issues with a sport bumper though.

 

Same. My 07 doesn't have one spot of rust.

X2. It's a new freakin truck! That's unacceptable.

 

I have the same thing on 09... you have to go pretty up close to see it but it's there. I tried using some crome polish and it helps a little but not much. I might mention it next time I take it to the dealer. I can't imagine it costing too much to replace though.

I got a new bumper, but it's not shiny, it's like a "matte" chrome. But only near the license plate. Weird. Oh well, dull chrome is better than rusty chrome....

 

How did you get a new bumper? Did Toyota replace it for free? If not, how much did that cost you? My bumper's rust is minor but it pisses me off.

 

Make sure it is not some sort of crap from what they put out on the roads to help with ice.

My truck and my wife's car are white and had these funky rust colored spots on them I saw while washing. They came off after a couple of washes and I am pretty sure it was not rust but just some sort of de-icer crap.

 

i tried to get pics of mine today. its a 2010 and i have rust spots on mine also.

 

Toyota is obligated to replace rusty shit for the first 5 years or so. They're actually pretty good about it. And rust on a 1 year old vehicle is not minor.
