i think it makes the truck really wide when you run a 16inch wheel but you not like the way the 17s look ?

I have the 17x9's and wish i would have gone up to an 18. The 17's are already very close to touching the tierod.

I think the offset is just as important as backspacing, if you get a wheel make sure it has a high positive offset this will push the wheel out farther toward the street from the hub where it is connected to the axle.

I guess that I am confused on backspacing, vs offset

offset is the distance of the mounting surface from the center of the wheel

and backspacing is the distance from the inner wheel lip to the mounting surface

so , arent they kind of telling you the same thing for a given wheel width

ie. all 16x8 wheels with a given backspace, have the same offset. if the offset were different, then the backspacing would change as well..

a 16 x 8 wheel with a 4.5" backspacing has a 0 mm offset, in order to reduce the offset ( to move the wheel out) you would just reduce the BS

I never really understood why you needed both, but maybe I am wrong

    https://www.rsracing.com/tech-wheel.html

and I understand that it is important, I am wonder what bs you guys are running to get 16s on the Fabtech kit

well thats your opinion and your entitled to it. If you saw these trucks in person im sure it would change. they look way sicker than any 6 or 3 inch truck. if you put a 6 inch and a 9 inch tacoma next to each other I know 50-70 of the people on here would think the 9 is nicer looking. you may not think that until you actually see them side by side. I agree than a 16 inch wide rim/tire is too wide, I like 12.5 x 35 with some 18's myself.

looks mean. bhlm will definetly make it look way better. if you dont want to do it yourself you can buy the cheap smoked headlights off ebay. there easy to install and you wont have to take apart the headlights and deal with the oven and all that crap. btw what kind of tires are those? I cant really tell cuz the lighting.

Backspace and offset are just different ways of measuring the same thing, so they're connected just as my68ur8 said. And you're wrong about what the highly positive offset will do... actually, a highly negative offset will stick the tire/wheel out farther from the mounting hub on the truck. Less backspace sticks a tire out farther, and negative offset stick tires out farther and both come together in a wheels' specs.

Read all 25 pages and didn't find the setup details of this truck. I love this damn truck. I know it's a 6" lift but kind of lift and what wheels and tires are they? I assume they are 35s....if so my guess is they rub, am I correct?

Thanks for giving me the details on this one guys! Super nice trucks!

well a 16x10 with 5.5 bs (0 offset :p) will be 6 mm closer to the spindle than stock.

I guess the question is, will that clear?

I guess I will need to get the lift on the truck and measure, or find a local guy with it already on there and measure

I dont mind 17s to much, but I like a little more sidewall , and the cheaper tires is a bonus

Thanks man, to me it was a no brainer. Why spend the $ on a 3" lift with new UCA's and all that crap when u can just get a pro comp for 1300 and be done. It's been around forever and it looks....well just look at it!

Just going off these pics here and what I read on the discount tire website, I may be wrong but you can't really tell which way the lines are going especially in the first one. From the looks of things a negative offset might not leave alot of clearance in the back for the caliper.

Your truck looks a lot higher then 6" to me. If I go this route it would be with coilovers up front and a custom pack in the rear with ext rear shocks. So it would be a bit more than the 3" I have now :D
