    A few bolts are different.
you dont need millions to build that. The platform and engine have already been designed, they just have to put the two together.

I say HELL YEAH!!! CNN's anti American car compay slant is showing again. The purpose of taking baliout money was to survive and become profitable again. Unlike the moron "journalists" rantings about the Hummer brand, Cadillac can easily manage build numbers for the CTS-V Wagon, keeping numbers in line with demand, and simply discontinuing the car if/when demand dries up. If the car makes a profit, and helps GM repay OUR money back, then they need to build it. Not everyone wants a Prius, Volt, or Insight.

Wasn't building big, heavy powerful luxury cars what made Cadillac in the first place? Going back to their roots might be a good strategy.

I don't see any problem with it. I'd love to give that car a test drive. It's better than building electric crap with 100hp.

    First...
    Yes, exactly

    Second...
They borrowed the money...and they'll have to pay it back. This doesn't give us the right to tell them what cars to make...it's not the peoples republic of prius owners.

    Third...
It'll probably sell. I see a lot of dodge magnums on the road and they're the same type of vehicle. Ford just released an awd turbo version of the ford flex too. Obviously there's a market.

I doubt they are going to pay back $50 billion. When the U.S. Government owns 72.5% of the company, yes we can tell them exactly what to make. I'm not a socialist fan but we do own the US Government owns GM.

I doubt it will sell well in this economy. Especially when the starting price will be $64K. You can go buy a one year old ESS supercharged M3 for that makes 600 whp. Oh and if the magnum sold so well why did it only last 3 years?

The government isn't capable of running a profitable company. They would ruin GM if they started telling them what to make.

Obviously the car is marketed towards someone who wants a wagon with power...an M3 isn't a good comparison. Even worse, comparing a USED and modified car to a new one. For that matter I can buy a used tacoma, build the engine and boost the crap out to get 700bhp out of it for far less than 64k, which is just as relevant since it's neither a wagon nor a new vehicle.

It's for someone who needs the space and wants a powerful car. Yes, a small market, but it's cheap to develop since they already have the engine and they already make a CTS wagon. They won't have to sell a bunch to make money. If you're still not convinced, google 'M5 touring' and see if BMW thinks the power wagon is a good idea...also google 'C63 AMG Estate'.

I remember reading somewhere that the magnum sold right at what dodge anticipated. They cancelled it along with a few other models in the slowing economy. I never said it was their best seller, but it wasn't a flop...and again...I see a fair number of them on the road...more than I see E46 M3s cruising around.

i dont have a problem with the car itself. hell, i kind of liked the magnum even though it was made by the shittiest car company since yugo. i do however, think its absolutely stupid to try to develop and sell something that expensive when the economy is in the tank and people are worried about keeping their homes. its just bad business sense. if they wanna do something smart they will invest in the new diesel technology. the more clean diesels we have running on the roads, the more diesel prices will drop (i cant believe they are so much higher than gas) and the more common and cheaper it will be. i give it 5 years before the clean dieseal takes off over here and they'd be smart to go ahead and dump alot of that money into R&D
