Thanks for your concern, I'll be sure to report on any added vibration. They will be mounted with 3M tape, so I highly doubt they'll make a peep.

Think about it this way, with all that air going through the bay at high speeds, its got no where to go. It will basically bounce around in your hood as there is no pass through, such as the reasons expensive sports cars have channels.

You obviously do not know how louvers work or their benefits, so I'll leave it at that.

So your not cutting into the hood to create a vent. Just adding plastic to make a pep boys truck. Ok I get it now.

Main thing to consider is the hood support pieces welded underneath the outer skin. Cutting those may weaken your hood causing it to bend or buckle during raising or closing it. :notsure:Good luck!

I have been thinking about this. Seems like damn near every jeep out there has louvered the shit out of its hood. I ran daystar vents on my rubicon. It can only help especially at low speeds crawling thru the woods.

I look forward to seeing your results, OP! I'm one of those guys who wants to see the CFD before I start cutting, but I think that you're at least on the right track. Someone's gotta take the plunge!

    Key issues would be:
Positioning the louvers in such a way that you're not chopping through lots of the underside bracing to install them (I think you might have already done this??)
Gurney flaps!! Experiment with them, they make a huge difference on how easily the louver extracts air. I know it seems counter intuitive to have a 1/2" or so flap sticking up at 90 degrees, but it's worth playing around with, even at the cost of re-riveting your leading two holes a few times.

Not the case, louvers offer more cooling benefits at high speeds than at low. Look at the cars you typically see these on. I am mainly installing them for looks, but they will also serve a functional purpose.

Yes I have and these will drop right in between the hood bracing.

Nope...It looks like he's cutting holes. Those louvers look like metal. Are you going to paint them?

I read somewhere the hood scoop was non-functioning due to air pressure drafting on the engine in a wind tunnel or some king of science thing. I say cut away and the engineers can stuff it.

They did such a good job with the grill.

Yes, they will be painted black. I plan to also swap out the grill for a BAMF recessed grill, so I'll already be screwing with the engineers flow calcs. Being an engineer myself, they don't always get things right the first, second, or third time.

Yes the case, there is just as much benefit to be had at low speeds as there is high. At high speeds the air traveling over the top of the louver creates a vacuum to pull the hot air out. At low speeds or not moving it gives the fan and air movement a natural place to escape or vent. Ya know like stright up since heat does a wierd thing like rise. The biggest difference to be noted is louver placement. Alot of offroad vehicles will place a small louver panel just behind the radiator and then more about where the exhaust headers are. This way when the fan kicks on at low speeds it forces that hot air up and out the hood.
