Help. Something splashed on my truck.

Through one of the rain storms I apparently ran through something black. Didn't notice it until it was dry. Goo Gone did nothing. Tried to clay bar it, no dice. Any ideas?

Have it repainted and protect it with these protective bumper stickers



Try a little nail-polish remover. We use it to removed spraypaint on clear coated parts all the time.

 

It's probably black soot from the exhaust, get used to it... mine has been there for years. I had part of that panel repainted and the body shop didn't bother to clean it up, they just clear coated over it. You can dump the exhaust over the axle if you want it to stop happening.

Does soot normally go in a direct line with something the tire kicked up?

 

Solution: let your truck get really dirty and leave it that way. Nobody will be able to tell...

Fuck, people are weird.

 

I mean I've seen mine look exactly like that on multiple occasions despite having mudflaps. Maybe the air coming off the tire is blowing it upwards as it comes out of the tailpipe? .

 

It splashed on the front too. Worse on the back.

 

WD-40 should remove it..... or try gasoline

 

I washed off the mud a little, this crap is next to impossible to remove, I've seen a lot of complaints about it.

 

That's basically acetone packaged in a more expensive container.

Try WD40 first before something more damaging to the paint.

 

If it's on the front too, you've definitely ran over something. The exhaust will stain your rear quarter panel over time though... or mine has anyways...
