I pried off the cover below my right inboard A/C vent and there was a small 2 pin cable there - is that for the passenger SRS disable switch? If so, can I hook a switch up to it and it will work?

I have an '08 DC, which doesn't come with an SRS disable switch.

if ur talking about the panel just right of the steering wheel below that vent, its for the 4x4 switch. i dont think there is a passenger side airbag switch since the buckets have sensors in them to turn the airbag on or off, depending on weight in the seat

Nope, talking about the semi-rectangular panel below the A/C vent to the right of the radio. I perused the wiring diagrams, but couldn't find it. On the bench seats there is a passenger SRS disable switch you operate with the key.

I may be wrong on this, but I believe that is for the switch for the optional, roof mounted TOW missile launcher or remote operated M2.

it is for a switch to disable the airbag on the passenger side; double cabs don't have this as you would never need to put a rear facing child seat in the front. I've noticed that the seat in my DC has a weight sensor in it. My 11 year old daughter is big enough that it will show it activated; my 9 year old son is light enough that it shows off when he rides in the seat.

Oh ya, if you put it in 4 low, it is disabled no matter who is sitting in the seat from my recollection.

I guess I do like the automatic part of this feature.

One more thing - I took my cover off, drilled a hole in it, ran my satellite radio wires through it and mounted my Siruis Sportster 5 using a mount from an XM Roady and the very strong two way sticky tape; it as good / better than a professional install job that any of the 6 places I checked in Raleigh offered to do. Ha HA
I bought a replacement cover from toyota of dallas in case I decide to remove that radio and go with something different or If I decide to trade it in or sell it, I can take my radio out and put the new replacement cover on it. ~$10 bucks from them; retails for ~$20.

Do you think it is live- i.e. could I hook a switch to it to turn it off so my dog doesn't keep tripping the SRS system to "buckle up"?

I don't know. Assuming there are just the two wires, you could jumper the pins to see what the affect is since that is all that the switch would be able to do anyway.

You should be able to order the actual factory switch and plate. Check out trdparts4u.com. You'll want to look for a switch for a regular cab or access cab.

I kinda think just adding a switch would not do the trick, as it is just too simple. I have a reg cab with the switch, and if you turn it off and the seat is occupied the light will flash to tell you to turn it on, but with no audible warnings. As for the too simple part; most vehicles would require the hand held scan tool be used to enable the new parameters, and in other manufacturers where people have tried it, the ECM/BCM will not accept the switch, "knowing" that the vehicle in question does not offer the switch. That may or may not be the case here though. As for jumping the switch, I would be careful without a schematic as it may not be a simple bridge; the switch may have a resistance value in one or both settings. If I get a chance sat or sun, I will pop my switch out and poke at it with my Fluke a bit. I have heard in the past that the switches the manufacturers offer as the cuttoff switch offered as the one the fed's allow when a waiver is obtained, is not the same one used in OE applications where the vehicle has the switch due to no backseat, most likely just to make things more difficult, as they would probably get the blame for a non functioning air bag down the road.
