So I just heard from my local dealer that he's been allocated a truck that matches what I want. Now it's time for planning the various upgrades and accessories. One thing I'm thinking of is a bull bar of some sort. What's the going opinion on them, and are there recommendations for with- or without lights, or recommendations for any particular models? The Taco I'm getting is a TRD Sport, and I'd want a black bull bar if I get one. All the ones I've looked at so far require cutting holes in the valence, but are there any decent ones that don't require that?

Other options I'm considering are LEDs in the hood scoop, some nerf bars, a bed header rail, and maybe a tonneau cover down the road. I'd appreciate any recommendations for any of those as well.

    Thanks!

Hey man, welcome. I'd suggest NOT going with a bull bar. There are far better options out there. Take the SSO slimline bumper (and there are other's by other reputable companies) that will both look and function better.

Don't waste money on a Bull Bar, they are nothing but a damage multiplier if you hit something as they fold up like tin foil. There are other option for putting lights behind the grille, or in the lower valance. @SDHQ OFFROAD makes some good ones and this is a thread of some nice stuff as well.

I like the idea of led lights in the hood scoop. Anyone do anything like that?

Are we being punked? LED lights in the hood scoop, this has to be people that are either tied to or massive fans of the first three fast and furious movies...

I've seen this on here before and I think it actually looks pretty good. Adds a little functionality to the skewp. I think I saw it on a Pro, but I can't swear to it. I do still occasionally see a Tacoma with a bull bar and it just makes the front end stick out even further. Not a good look.

Somebody had a thread on here about an LED bar in the skewp. He was ridiculed until he posted video. It was brighter than I expected. There wasn’t as much hood glare as I thought either. Skip the bull bar though.

I have a bull bar as a temporary solution, but I recommend getting something else. Right now I just use it as a glorified brush guard, but I'm actively looking for something that can actually take a hit.
