I actually spent some time in a dealership the other day... Rubicon: Dana 44s, Lockers, some skid protection, sliders that don't stick out... all-in-all not bad for about the same cash I spent before I enabled my current addiction - I bet you a crack addiction would have been far less costly!

pics? http://www.fourwheeler.com/thehistoryof/129_9709_jeepposter/index1.html (i know thats not all of them used) last real military jeeps used were solid axle.. not IFS as you mentioned.. they continued solid axles in the cj's (civillain jeep) so unless they used a similar platform of a liberty with ifs that wasnt made untill like 15 yrs AFTER the humvee was introduced. i gotta call complete bs on a military jeep that was fully independent like you stated.. prove me wrong.

In 1951 Ford Motor Company was awarded the contract to design a 1/4 ton 4x4 Military Utility Tactical Truck (hence MUTT) to replace the M38 and M38A1 model jeeps. The M151 'MUTT' was developed with guidance from the US Army's Ordnance Truck Automotive Command. Design started in 1951 and testing and prototyping lasted through most of the fifties. Although the M151 was developed and initially produced by Ford, production contracts for the M151A2 were later also awarded to Kaiser Jeep and AM General Corp. its wasnt made by JEEP.. alot of manufactures built military vehicles... but this 1 was built by by ford originaly from a jeep platform it seems. but modified by another company to military specs.

 

i am not arguing over whether IFS is BETTER than SFA... they both have pros and cons... post a pic of ivan stewarts truck IDK.. lets see it on a we rock course!!!! it wont happen!!!!
