I've got lots to do! Workout (at least an hour) and need to go by Lowes and also go buy some pvc pipe to make a homemade fishing rod holder for my truck bed.

LOL, I'm drawing up plans for my fishing rod holders now. Hopefully it turns out nice and I'll make it a mod for others.

I'm going to try to attach it to the side of my bed using the existing rails, pvc pipe, bolts, nuts, and some flat iron. We shall see how it goes!

Just FYI- fishing pole mod was a fail for my shortbed. Good news is I found the proper size bolt for using the side rails- 9/16ths. Now I've got to get something to bolt in :)

Hey Bullzi here is a link to a site for pipe clamps that you could use to bolt your PVC pipe in.
Depending on the outside dimensions of the pipe you want to use you can get a clamp that will fit this pipe.
Let me know if I can help you a little more of what might beable to work. And I might beable to draw it up for ya.

Thank you!! :) The biggest problem was that my fishing pole was longer than my truck bed (short bed), and I was aggravated b/c it messed up my plans I had drawn out. I will definitely look into this for future endeavors though. Maybe I'll draw up a plan B incorporating these.

I wanted to have them laying down, from the front of the bed on the wheel well at a diagonal to the upper back of the bed. My pole went about a foot past the tailgate. It was going to be 2 pieces of pipe to hold the pole. If I had my drawing with me I would attach a picture of it, but I don't. Sorry.

I didn't want my pole sticking straight up out the bed since I was traveling quite a few hours away with it and thought it would be bad for the pole itself.

Ok So do you have a reel on this pole and if so about what size is the overall outside diameter of the reel?
I take it that you want to encase the pole and have a cap on the end to seal it and one at the bottom as well I take it.

I do have a reel, no idea what size. I was going to have open ended pieces, the handle of the pole would be held in by wheel well, front of truck bed. I'll see what I can do about drawing it up for you. Getting off work. Thanks for the help. :)
