Try grinding all that black off of the key, then you will know for sure.

My 06 has a chipped key. The PO included the spare and when I went to use it one day the truck would turn over but not start.

There's a small dimple on the key near the black moulding I believe that signifies a chipped key.

If you have this car/key light display on your center console you have a chipped key/immobilizer installed on the truck.

On a side note, it helped with my insurance as it is considered an anti-theft device.

Its true, partly why I don't bother tinting my windows; so a would be car thief can easily see it's a manual and be more likely to pass on by to the next vehicle.

I don't qualify to post in this thread since I don't have a bottle opener on my key ring.

And if folks took care of the low hanging fruit issues, then the police couldn't focus on those issues.

Depends on the department. Locally to me it seems that if they didn't worry about "low hanging fruit" they could cut the department size about in half, which helps the tax thing too. I still don't mind cops going after that though, I always keep my stuff tippy top legally speaking so I don't have to worry about it. It is natural selection of sorts really.

Actually, most stolen are found from "blinker out" type stops. They will check know spots they drop stolens.but most times it the right turn on red stops that get your car back.

More like justifing the cop's existence. Show me some numbers and monies will come afterward, in all forms.
Same with the fire dept...not badmouthing about any of them. It's reality.

Ever heard about Miami Garden Police dept? It will blow your mind.

The best thing you can do, is make your truck harder to steal the the car next to it. Be it with a steering wheel club, pedal club, etc. Or alarm. But if they want your truck it's gone. I can snatch a car with my work truck in less than a minute. When I repo'd 30-45 seconds.

I'm a firefighter...No shit dude, get them trucks out there. Run up some numbers. Make it easy when something break and the town justify the repair cost or upgrade some equipment. It's also the difference between a shiny new truck or a rattle piece of crap few years down the road.

Well ballistics don't work on a shotgun and I would call the police and tell them I heard gun shots outside my house while cleaning my shotgun.
