Right its pretty bad the last thing I want is for this to turn into a ball busting/roasting marathon. Would prefer to spare the details on how it happened and why insurance inst an option.

Body shop quoting over $3k, so just want to run a more affordable idea by to get thoughts.

I was thinking I would buy one of those big suction cups, electric buffer, and heavy duty stuff to clean it up/prep it as much as possible. Then pay to have the rear bed panels (both right & left) rhino lined the same color of the truck. Then put some fat black fender flares on the truck.

I live in CO, do a lot of camping/hunting. I'm on OHV a lot so my thoughts are this could be better than breaking the bank to pay a body shop to fix.

I dont know a lot about Rhino lining or body damage repair other than it can get costly. Wanted to see what others thought-

Anybody have any feedback on how they think this would look?; &

Any ideas on what the cost may be to Rhino the panels?

    Much appreciated.

damn that sucks, try taking a block of wood and a hammer and popping out the
bigger dents so it doesnt look as bad and taking it in to another shop for a quote.
bottom line is body work is expensive. ask your friends if they can recommend
    someone.

I came up with these options to help save some money:

1 - remove the bedsides and rear lights yourself and then take it to a body shop to have it repaired, might save a bit of money on labor.

2 - do option one but take it further by buying an aftermarket bedside, having it painted off the truck, and then install it yourself. This is probably going to be a PITA as this is what I did to replace the drivers side fender and flare. Getting the gaps to look reasonable was tough and took a lot of time and bending of tabs to get it to look reasonable, but not great.

3 - Same as option 1 but you get an OEM panel online (cheaper than the body shop would charge you) and then have them paint/install it or just have them paint it and install yourself

Just depends how good you want it to look and how much effort you are willing to put in to save money. Also you could search for a replacement panel at a junk yard but that might be tough for a 3rd gen.

$3000 seems reasonable for all that work.

Yah and I only got quotes from one shop. I accidentally posted the thread before finishing it and uploading all the pics. The right panel is ALOT worse. I have been saving to lift it and want to badly, but dont want to be that redneck that goes and lifts it prior to fixing the damage. I cant lift it AND pay a body shop, so hoping cleaning it up and rhino lining over it could be more affordable, that way i can do both.

What are the chances you're going to do the damage or other damage again?

Maybe it is time to go through insurance.

$3000 is reasonable its a lot I would agree. But if the other idea would look okay and be more affordable I would rather go that route

Dang, just saw the updated photos - for both sides $3k is not unreasonable for a good shop.

I'm thinking glass bedsides would be the cheapest option now, and leave some money for a lift. Also if those get damaged you can always re glass it. I've repaired a ton of very badly damage motorcycle race fairings. They just get heavier the more you have to fix lol.

It's a nice truck. Get it fixed right. Then do the lift. My two cents.

Jesus man, $3,000 to fix all of that almost seems too cheap. I don't see any scenario where you're going to pop dents and buff any of that out, and it looking anywhere near ok.

This may be your best bet, but there is no cheap fix here. That's why many of us, myself included, stay waaaay away from hardcore offroading our new 30-40k trucks.

OP, If I was in your shoes and wanted to continue to offroad I'd do exactly this. See what you can cut and bang out yourself and then bondo and rhino the rest. it won't look stock pretty, but I guarantee it'll look more trail ready and be more of an upgrade rather than a fix anyway.
