Alright so when i had my Icons installed at --> https://www.yelp.com/biz/rw-performance-los-angeles

the guy that installed the leaf said I didn't need the rear bolt that goes through the springs. From your guys expertise is this correct???

    Thanks in advance!

It does nothing. The add a a leaf is held in place by the center pin and the u-bolts just like the rest of the leaf pack

I don't think it's up to "the guy" to decide that parts can be discarded. You paid to have the kit installed, per its manufacturer's instructions.
Even if the suspension will hold together and function without the bolt, it looks shotty and smacks of sub-quality workmanship.
My two cents says I wouldn't tolerate it.
Besides - Did he lose it? was it missing? or was he doing you a favor employing a weight-saving tactic?

Good point, should be up to you whether or not to have it put on, but still, at this point might not be worth your time to go back and have it put on... time = money.

Looks to me like that bolt would help the spring decompress back to it's original location once a load is removed. Say for instance you leave it like it is, you load a trailer or the bed and the spring compresses down and starts to flatten out some. No big deal without the bolt, but say you take the load off and the add a leaf portion doesn't flex back upwards as much with the original spring. Seems like that bolt would keep it snug to the original spring and pull the whole add a leaf and original pack back upwards as one whole unit.

When me and @tacitos did the extra leaf install, we did not install that bolt, and it wouldn't even go through after it was installed. It is not used. Call the manufacturer to be sure.

I got the Icon RXT pack and removed the OEM bolts and replaced them with better ones. Go to any hardware store and buy them or you can have my originals.

They were supposed to remove the OEM bracket right behind it as it is rubbing against the pad and will eventually start squeaking. The bolt/bracket just ensures the leafs stay in alignment.

Got anything to add besides no? I said it looks like to me didn't say it definitely was. I don't have these but that's what they look like. To hold the add ons to the actual pack to help them stay as a whole when flexed and stay in alignment. The center pin keeps them together. No reason to be a dick about it.

i wonder if that oem bracket has to be removed for all aal or just the icon. guess depends on length, the ones i ordered only have the center pin, not even those brackets on each end.
do you need longer u bolts with just an aal?

If I was having it installed I would be upset that he didn't install complete but that being said after having just removed my Icon add-a-leaf he probably did you a favor if you ever want to remove it because it was so rusted it took me a solid 10-15 minutes per bolt to get the front ones out to remove the e-brake bracket.

The answer was no, a leaf spring is just that, a spring, if it needed assistance to go back to its original height it would just keep getting lower with every bump he hit, or all of us for that matter because most trucks will never have that bar. If you think I was being a Dick for whatever reason I do apologize but you need to get some thicker skin my friend
