I read elsewhere that it was a Remington 700 muzzleloader.

The muzzle in that video certainly had a break. :rimshot:
But they make aftermarket brakes for pretty much everything these days, so even if it didn't have one from the factory it'd be easy to have one installed. Or you could even rebarrel to a rifle with an integrated brake.

Ever try to drop a double charge in a rifle case?

Makes a hell of a mess, and you are not getting a bullet seated without noticing something is up.

Pistol Powder in a rifle case, on the other hand...that's an easy mistake to make.

Usually it'll destroy the action, though. That definitely looked like a barrel obstruction

This. It's as simple as threading the barrel or swapping in a new barrel.

Correction, it's not really a diy swap, machining is needed.

Option 1 - You can get a "remage" setup from (new)Jim at northland shooters supply. Converts your 700 into a barrel nut gun. Then switch away like a savage. $$

Option 2 - If you are good, once your 700 barrels are shouldered to a proper headspace in your action, you can switch barrel as you see fit. $$$

Option 3 - send your barreled action to a smith, have the muzzle threaded, squared, and crowned $

Option 4 - (my method) buy a custom 700 patterned action with savage small shank threads, then spin on your choice of barrels and use 700 stocks, triggers, etc because the aftermarket stuff is more pleantyful. Figure out what your wife bought you and shoot the piss out of it to show her you appreciate her thoughtful gift! $$$$

Option 5 - buy a lathe.and tooling, some gunsmith classes, and diy $$$$$$

Oh and the "remage", savage barrel nut guns, Ruger RMR, some Marlin bolt gun,and AR10s are the only mainstream centerfire rifles that are easy dyi barrel swap clmpliant. I am sure there are more, but this is the extent of my knowledge.
