Could also be the tinted blacked out lights where the bowl is still reflective.

Yeah. Choco posted and said the lenses are smoked. I wouldn't do it, though. Our stock headlights suck as it is, or at least mine do. I wouldn't want to make them darker, but I'm weird and like my chrome grill and headlights.

I had similar fears when I was looking into them back in the day. I do wonder if they would pass inspection as well since the output is likely less than stock when our stock headlights are already garbage as it is.

They are DOT certified, but if they do suck, they will have a very short life span on my truck. Right now, mine are probably no worse than these!

Yes mine are pretty bad. They might not be as bad as I'm imagining them, but I'm scare they won't pass inspection. And that helped me convince the wife these were a good deal. ;)

What kind of rack? Just a rack that goes across/over the bed? Or the bed cage/shock mount/rtt mount rack you were looking at having made?

I don't understand. These are DOT headlights and there is a "reflector bowl" in there so why wouldn't they work? :notsure:

Never heard the term reflector bowl before, but sounds good!

Reflector bowl is a common reference for the bowl that is behind the halogen light. It is the essence of what makes the halogen function as its a mirror created in a certain shape to reflect the light as it does like a mirror would with a flashlight. He was wondering if the reflector bowl is other than chrome due to how dark the lights look as again the bowls work as mirrors and a dark mirror would be pretty shitty in reflecting light to meet current standards. I don't think any company would be able to even sell a halogen designed light without having chrome reflector bowls, but your pic did look dark enough that it warranted asking the question as I did as well.

Ah, got it. It may have been the picture, as I took it inside the house, and while it was inside the box. I checked and there is the reflector bowl in each one, and they don't look smoked or dark, just the lenses. Hopefully, as I said before, they aren't dark once I get them on. I also plan on buying some new lightbulbs, so if anyone has recommendations let me know.
