I am getting tired of my firestik on my hood mount. Has anyone run a wilson 1000 on a tailgate mount?/ is this a good idea?

also are there alternative mounts to run the 62.5 in whip from the wilson 1000 that may do better on the tailgate mount

I made some holes for the speaker and the wires on my radio, also made a mic mount. It attaches by the lip on the back, it slides under the trim at the bottom of the console. You fit it on at the front then slide it back, as it gets tighter that holds on the cb. I might be able to print you one with the dimensions of your radio, pm me with details if you’re interested. I will have to charge you a few bucks ($25-$40 depending on radio size) because of the cost of having to have someone print and ship it

    1. Had a mag mount- scratched truck to shreds
    2. I don't want to drill a hole in roof

Looks nice, but does it not effect the GPS mounted down there?

    yep..
How's this antenna? I have the same setup and i'm looking for something that isn't so floppy. Mine is flapping around all the time and it gets irritating, especially off road.

Thanks! Looks like you've done all the leg work and have the best no-drill solution! I really should stop reading all those other posts, lol.

Do you mean the power supply interferes with the CB creating noise through the CB?

Yep. Mine made a real ruckus whenever I accelerated. I ended up running a separate power line in.

Cool, I get it on on my cb, but am worried about my mobile uhf/vhf setup. Hey @dorton, do you think its a bad idea to install a 50w mobile antenna near the engine bay, as in on my ditch light brackets. Currently its my best option, and given that I have the oem tonneau, I am pretty limited for mounting locations. I know you have yours on your bumper. I have just read a lot about people recommending to keep these antennas far from engine bay...

I haven't had any RF noise issues on UHF/VHF from the engine. I ran a lip mount on the left edge of the hood(basically where it would be with a ditch light bracket) for a short time,
and had no issues with RF noise there on VHF.

Toyota says 100w, I haven't ever transmitted at over 75w to be sure.

This sounds like a sweet setup, and as someone who also plans on mounting a radio in the cubby, I'm gonna need to see pics.
