I caved and ordered some sound deadening. Same-day delivery so I should have it completed within a few days.

I bit the bullet and bought the sound deadening material so I will be doing the full upgrade this Sat. AM. So this is what I'm in for $ wise.

Kicker Subaru Tweeters, Ebay (shipping was FAST): $88
Kicker CS FR/RR speakers, Crutchfield: $135
Noico 50 mil 25 sqft sound deadening mat, Amazon: $40
Auto Pry Tool Kit, Amazon: $8
Unused weather stripping, junk drawer: FREE!

    $271 total.

I'm trying not to be too optimistic for the money spent but these reviews are making it hard. I'll definitely post back up after my install with my take on the install and sound quality.

Also bit the bullet. Damn Canadian prices. All said and done it will be around 500 can, including some sound deadening material from Amazon.

All these positive reviews I’m sure it will still be money well spent.

this would have been my going in assumption as well - as is normally the case with stock HUs and is why I hadn't upgraded (assuming I'd need to do a bunch of wiring, amp, etc., to get anything worth installing). nice little surprise, eh? ;) congrats on the new ear candy!

So I was listening to the radio yesterday in my Taco. A great song was on and I turned it up all the way. The volume is nowhere near as loud as my old Taco’s volume (JBL). I’m ordering the front Tweeters and trusting everyone that this will make an improvement. My speakers just don’t have any guts....Now I’m going to dig back through this thread to see if any special tools are needed just to do the front speakers.

I cut one "sheet" of the mat long-wise down the middle and put one piece above the bar and one below. That was about all I could get in there.

Dead links there but you can try this...

    https://www.focal.com/en/car-audio/car-audio-kits-solutions/integration/plugplay

That's a $600 FR/RR door speakers only kit (on Crutchfield) so I'm having a hard time seeing how it could possibly be worth it if the Kickers
that were $135 on Crutchfield...I'm also guessing that if the stero shop was doing a build that would include an amp and sub as well...but I don't know that.

I am trying to find a complete plug and play that doesn’t cost a fortune but no dice so far. I had no idea this was this expensive but maybe it can be had for less.

I just chatted with them and it is coming up under $400 for the front and rear with all tools. I’m getting a military discount but even without it it is $411 with all the tools and mounting hardware. I’m doing this for the front and rear doors.

If you want a discount at Crutchfield just go online and sign up for id.me and they give discounts. I’m not sure how much as I have not signed up yet (still a bit nervous from all the Equifax stuff).

Did you get the tweeters in that bundle? If not, you're missing a big piece.

Just finished installing the door Kickers this morning, tweeters were installed Monday and they made a huge difference but the door speakers took it up another level. Very happy with the ~ $220 investment for the six speakers.

No, I’m ordering the Kicker Tweeters. I’m still not sure about the front and rear doors but I can get everything Focal for under $400 to include tools and any necessary kits. I doubt a sound shop would get close to that but I may check to be sure.

Just had my wife in the truck, returning from a dr's appt (baby watch) and I was jamming on the way back after a good report from the doc. Of course being 9 months pregnant, back pain is an issue... She looked to me as we pulled into our garage and said, "you know, that subwoofer you have under my seat is helping my back SO much..."

She was impressed when I reminder her I did not spend more money and what she was feeling in bass was purely from the 6x9s in the door. LOL

Did the same today. Damn TW. Planning a nice little Friday evening install. I must be getting old if I’m more excited about staying in and working on the truck then going out.
