I do this sometimes, I've done it on every vehicle, never had an issue. Hell we leave our gasoline ambulance and police cars turned on while refueling.

Just going to drop this in here. On a much larger scale, but still. Gas has a lower explosive limit of 1.4% air fuel mixture. That's pretty low.

If you want to take the chance, just don't do it next to me.

I have done it on my Tacoma and 4Runner no codes at fill up , but I never let my tanks run empty they were probably around half full.

Yep! Here's a link to an article.

I believe the Chemical Safety Board has footage from a nearby security camera too if I remember right. They have a ton of videos on their website.

Considering the thread started back about April 13th, you just made it.

I think this thread is more about people who enjoy breathing gasoline fumes vs. people who don't.

Pretty sure the actual putting gas in your truck is something most everyone already knows.

I just topped of my Tacoma the other day while running.

Not sure what the reason for danger is supposed to be.

    Must be some kind.

Never seen a gas station that didn't have a sign saying to turn engines off, no smoking, no cell phone use while pumping.

What about that guy in the tanker truck filling the tanks? He always has his motor running.

At a previous job, we would get deliveries of IPA, Isopropyl Alcohol and that truck and every container we pumped into was grounded to a grounding rod. I would assume fuel trucks would would have something similar, but as I type this I think about the how they hook up the hose to the tanks. I believe they have an air tight seal, unlike when we fuel our rides. When we filled our storage tank with IPA, we had a vapor hose as well.

Fuel fill up nozzles have vapor recovery too, at least here in CA. My brother used to work for a company that tested them.

Another reason why it's no big deal.

If your talking about at the pump, think some on here said that's not a requirement any more. Now if your talking from the tanker, thanks that's what I was wondering.
