    @Trdlife I do apologize, here to give sound advice,
    Get a Tow strap and a shovel for recovery gear as minimum. Carry food and water, warm clothes, ways to make a fire, medicine if needed (never know when a day run turns into a over nighter).

    A bunch a good guys from Ontario, planning trips and meets. If I remember there is a stock friendly run coming this fall. If you are able to participate it is a great way to see what will be you next purchase for the truck! They will also be able to answer your questions about vendors. Keep in mind that shipping to Canada kills every deal you can find here... that is reality lol but there is a few canadian suppliers where you can buy from!

    Not claiming to be the consummate expert on the subject, but at least an experienced off roader;

    I've been off roading for 44 years. I'm currently on my 17th 4wd truck. 5th Toyota. Not the first rodeo... Here's what I've learned over the years, some learned the hard way....

    Start with the basics. The VERY first thing I'd do is make certain you have tires that are up to the task. Also pack a "recovery bag"....ie, snatch strap, shackles, a shovel, etc...

    Armor is weight....weight LOWERS a truck. After tires, I'd deal with the suspension. Depending on tire size, you may need to deal with suspension BEFORE tires. Even if you don't raise the truck, you should at minimum increase it's ability to handle added weight BEFORE piling more iron on the scales. Then, evaluate the type of trails you will be on...Do you need full skids? Would sliders be more beneficial (They are in my book) If you aren't going to be a full blown rock crawler, aluminum skids are a great alternative. I bang mine around pretty hard WITH ALUMINUM SKIDS and have not damaged the skids. They're a LOT tougher than many seem to believe. And they didn't squat my truck at all. Winches require a winch bumper, or at minimum, some sort of hard mount. That's MORE weight....plus the weight of the winch. I'm a big fan of aluminum winch bumpers too. (Pelfreybilt in my case) Long story short....Unless you want a low rider, suspension should be addressed before skids and other armor.

    Develop a plan before you start buying. That way you don't buy things that don't work with the later improvements.

    We do, constantly. You just have to ask us for a shipping quote. Unfortunately our website plugins just can't seem to get it right.
