Truthfully, it AMAZES me how many of you have spent (at least) $3,000 for a "tent" that mounts on your truck! Hey, it's YOUR money and DAMN, good to you for it! I couldn't do it (even if I wanted to) because I don't have a driveway or house to park my truck in ().

BUT, I do have a North Face Expedition 36 (2005) that (for the last 12 years) has taken everything I've thrown at it..

 

nah, its (at most) $3,000... not (at least)

Just so you guys know, North Face "Expedition" tents come with a (for the most part) "unconditional" warranty. I bought mine ("new") from a third party on eBay ($425). I've returned parts of it to the North Face for repair several times. They've NEVER asked for proof of purchase, receipt, etc. Once you have an "Expedition" product, you're in a different "club." Almost every problem was fixed or replaced FREE of charge (including shipping). The one exception was when I (mistakenly) packed it "wet." The fly had mildew damage when I unpacked it (grrrrr...). $75 later I had a brand new fly (9 years after I purchased it) delivered to me (within 3 days) for NO additional shipping cost. DAMN...

 

That's really good for a company to stand behind their product like that. Now NorthFace just needs to come out with a RTT

 

NEVER happen, LOL. Maybe I'm missing something (I'd LOVE to have a "mounted" tent, because, well, I'm all about less work), but I haven't seen anything less than $3,000 that's worth a damn. Am I wrong?

 

Excluding mouting rack/bars. I have seen many RTT(2-3person) for $1500. 3k is a little high unless you got top of the line fully loaded with attached shelter, etx

And, BTW, you've "camped" this, right? Or, are you (respectfully) passing on what you've "heard?"

 

There's an entire RTT thread with options from under 1K to over 2K depending on what you want. Your 3K number is a bit high. Do a search.
