MY point is that if you've never waxed your vehicle, like me, you need to strip all that grimy shit off before even considering touching it with clay. Or else you'll drag that shit across the paint and scratch it deeper.

Regular off the shelf, or even boutique junk, soaps won't cut the old waxes off the paint. You have to get to the raw clear/paint then build up from there.

 

Absolutely but I still wouldn't use dawn lol. He even notes that it's dangerous, as well as the power washer if your too close so that's good. Everything I was taught poses no ability to incur damage to the paint lol. For the most part would work great though. He needs my top on wax removal from black plastic parts lol.

7424XP for 15 years. I haven't had an issue with swirls. I used to clay bar, polish, wax and buff. My truck needs a good polish all over and I need to order some more pads for mine. I do wax and everything with the buffer. Clay by hand though. When the white goes to shit I'm just gonna wrap mine and be done with all the bs.

 

Could always use a rubbing compound if it's that important to you. I'll probably end up using rubbing on mine to get the paint back in shape.

 

That's exactly what I do, except instead of wrap gonna line x or rhino line the whole thing when paint is done for lol.

 

I've got dull spots too so I'm going to have to put some work into mine.

If you've never waxed it then I doubt after this long that there's any left. Rubbing compound then polish to get the paint back in shape. Would still clay frost to get whatever shit you can out before you use the rubbing and polishing compound. I'm going to try a glaze next time also but I'm not going to use some of that $100+ shit. I'd rather wax more often than spend shitloads of money on one product.

Agree with you on that. May have to pull the snorkel and front bumper to get to the paint around it too. ugh!

I need to pull the bumper and sliders off anyway to repaint them.
