You see how large the MF is? Makes a good mountain base.

 

I had the entire space collection once (the one from the 80s.) Sadly they were all lost in a house fire. I had been building my collection and was going to move on to the Castle series next, but after that happened I was totally disheartened. This is awesome that there are other collectors out here that kept their sets going.

 

It would be tough to lose my collection. I'd be down for a bit but, I'd start again. I wouldn't be able to help myself.

 

Craigslist add would read, "Lego toys for sale. Entire lot $100 or a bag of meth."

 

I remember that build! I had to finish my homework before I could start that. Took forever to get my hw done haha

 

The rough retail value is $27k but a lot of my sets are retired.

 

That's definitely dedication. I'm somewhere in the 5-8k range between all my stuff & the rest of the family.

London Bus is next on my list.

 

Are the value estimates coming from Brickset? It's cool and scary when you take a look at the costs for sets owned and wanted.

 

Yeah I pulled that value from Brickset. I'd say 75% of my retired sets will cost 50%+ more than retail to replace. The longer I have them, the more it would cost.

 

So true. Even used my classic space stuff is pretty expensive based on that site.

 

I'm near 7k. Mostly due to odd rare sets and figures that are discontinued. Anyone remember those horrible "islander" sets.

 

I was on a classic space spree a few years ago. Those were my favorite sets as a kid. Still don't have a Galaxy Explorer. So bummed to have let all those go in a garage sale in 98.

 

I don't like to think about all the stuff I destroyed as a child. I wish I would have been kinder to my childhood lego sets. I had mostly castle that I destroyed and lost. It would be fair to say I lost most to the vacuum cleaner.

 

With Toys R Us not being long for this earth, might wanna keep an eye on them for deals. Still over priced ATM but wait and see........
