Before them was the Western Flyer. You weren’t cool unless you had the banana seat, ape hangers, and a 6’ flag.

And we’d jump those things off any ramps we could make.

Yeah, but looking cool, landing smooth and 'stylin' was the point... the guy who launched it into a tree, threw it away or slammed it was a douche... I dunno, maybe it's just me, but I can't even imagine wanting to drive my new quad through the living room into the pool for a few woohoos

ELF was high brow. Up there with SE, power light, hutch, s&m, auburn (removable rear triangle?!?) and skyway.

Neighbor had a jmc mini... that was an amazing little featherweight.

The average Ruskie can trick a Kodiak into a sidecar with some Beggin' strips....

    there's definitely a pee tape.

I think it started with The Who back when they'd trash their equipment after a show. Conspicuous consumption...
But I agree; we always took care of our stuff when I was a kid. Even used to wash and wax my damn Rockhopper after a trail run, lol. Still take care of it, even if I work some of it a little hard sometimes. I don't understand the mindset of buying something and trashing it. I get that "it's only money" but seriously...

I think people are buying disposable products (ie cheap crap) from places like Wally World and not investing in one quality piece. (Doesn't explain the CanAm dumbass tho).

We had good kitchen stuff that we lost in the fire and probably too many pieces. We are buying/replacing with good stuff, but only the pieces we need and will use. It's painful to spend more on a single item but I know we'll have it for a long time.

There is a problem with having nice things now days... nobody really understands.

    Enter my mother in law.

I have told her countless times, if she uses my kitchen knives (Wustohf Classic) to please just leave them dirty on the cutting board and I will take care of them.

Without fail, she uses a knife for the wrong purpose.. then tosses them, yes tosses, them into a sink of dishes. And if I don't catch her, into the dish washer they go.

And don't get me started on her use of a SOS pad in my Corian counters and now the use-to-be nonstick coating on my Miele range.... I sound like a pretentious butch, yes, but I work hard for what I have, stop fucking it up trying to "be nice."
