My typical chirp noise seems to be making a different sound now. Engine makes the noise in drive when at a stop. Noise ceases when I let off breaks/give it gas. Fuel pump still?

    Welp, got the chirp.

    Dealer isn't helping so far.

Waiting for official corporate response before I start collecting scalps.

Well, the dealer claims they contacted corporate, and even if they would replace the pump, it would come back. Told me could be the type of gas (I only use top tier so they can stfu) and that there was nothing they can do.

I still have an open case with corporate, who hasn't called me back.

I'm about to go full smitty on these people.

Well, Toyota corp hasn't even called me back after a week. Dealer says Toyota told them not to replace, because the noise will just come back.

Ok then, time to start burning their social media to the ground.

I'll make smitty look like a Toyota fanatic by the time this is done.

:angrygirl: it's not failing relax. It's not pleasing to the ear but it's not causing performance issues is it? Mine goes away as soon as the rpm goes over 600-700.

$40k truck with 13k miles and it sounds like crickets are in a mating frenzy under my hood.

It was enough to do a TSB for the FRS/BRZ and a Lexus model, but not the Tacoma?

Toyota won't even call me back?

They can get fucked on this one.

A TSB to stop fixing the non failing unit due to sound. I went through it but it's just the way it is. Toyota's engines all sound bad imo. Unless we are talking Supra :burnrubber: But it does seem like a losing battle trying to combat this. Good luck!

The service advisors actually told me they would look into it before my next service. We'll see if anything comes up next time i go in (month or two from now). They are looking into the diff as well.

At this point, I'll just be roasting their social pages every time I get angry about it, which is usually after sitting in already-angering traffic on the way home from the office listening to crickets under my hood. Not much else to do right now.

Round Rock Toyota service center is reeeeeeeeeal suspect as well. They refused to fix a window seal saying "window may have been removed to install tint" despite me telling them Safelite replaced the window, and I had to sign off on the warped seal on the pre-inspection report before they would perform any work on the vehicle - you know, standard process - so I thought nothing of it and thought for sure it wouldn't be a problem. Woops. 4 days after this incident, my trucks battery died, so I called ToyotaCare for a jump, who was an hour late one day (so I missed dealer closing), and an hour early the next (so I missed my morning appointment) just to add insult to injury. When they replaced my battery and told me to get fucked on the chirp for the second time, they gave my truck back without the passenger window programmed (auto). "Master" tech they say. "Service" they claim. I went from loving this thing as I have my past Toyota trucks...to wanting to burn down anything Toyota in a week flat.

On the Lexus I heard they are redesigning the pump to stop the chirp. Must be nice.

I'm not gonna go out of my way to find a gas station just so my (almost) new truck sounds like a new truck.

It's not debilitating, but the problem combined with the shitball service I received from the dealer, the no-response I've got from corporate, and the other issues with my last week of Toyota experiences has me pretty hot. If you couldn't tell.

Common issues with the DI Fuel pumps. The Scion FR-S, Subaru BRZ had this issue (prior owner)

It wont kill the car, Embrace the crickets...this has been an issue since at least 2012

If I put a supercharger, the whine will drown out the crickets.

I basically have no other choice at this point.

I have a 2013 FR-S that I've owned since new. It has 34k miles, and has done this since the first month I had it. It can be annoying at times, but it's one of those quirks that isn't worth complaining about in my opinion. Doesn't harm the car.

There is actually a large write-up on the FT86 forum about this, explaining why it exists. I'll look for it when I get by my computer.

    Already read it actually.

This TSB and this TSB are what I brought to the dealer when I went back for round 2. Basically, how can you replace it on one vehicle, but not another? And why are some dealers replacing it, and others not?

It didn't do it until 12k. That's the part I don't like. If it would have been this noisy on test drive...I don't know that I would have bought it, and either way, I would have known what I was buying. It's that bad, imo. Truck idle sounds like a cricket trying to mate with a hyperactive jumping bean in a frying pan. I can deal with the usual Toyota idle, and even the new and improved hyper-tick of the D4S system. Chirp, I cannot. I can hear it with the windows up on an open road...don't even get me started about being against a drive-thru wall.

Well, Toyota has closed the case with their official response: Deal with it.

    Bravo Toyota, bravo.
