I replaced all four of mine on my 95.5 about 2 year ago, about, all Toyota parts. I usually have all my receipts if you want me to check when i get home, it'll be tomorrow though. I'm thinking i got them from camelbacktoyota.
There's one guy you can call that i always used for parts in the past until his owner made him quit taking credit cards. He now takes PayPal. The best guy i found for oem parts, his name is gary Smith, parts manager for Newnan Toyota, Georgia, man is sharp with oem parts, and he use to be the cheapest. Try this number, it might be it 770 502 1333.

The driveline shops that I spoke to had a turn around time of one or two days. It's pricey, but they have parts that can replace the D.C. joints and get your driveshaft ready to go in a day or two. I only contacted two driveline shops down in OC though. Not sure who could do it up in your neck of the woods.

I bought a spare driveshaft when I found out my D.C. joint was going for less than it would have cost to rebuild it. I'd go that route. You can tell if the joints are going to be an issue (at least for the moment) by wiggling them and checking for play and making sure they go smoothly through the full range of motion. That will at least sort you out for the time being. There are a few dismantlers that could probably get you one by tomorrow or Monday.

I'm into mine about $300 and it still needs a new carrier bearing (I'm replacing it with a solid one when it goes on the truck) so I'm not sure it would be any cheaper to get it from me since you'd be looking at $450 after you replaced the cb.

There's probably a bus system that gets to where you need to go - or close at least. What do you do for work? If it's mobile, then yeah that's tough to get around, but if you just go from a to b then a good extra 4 hours a day will at least save you uber costs. Tough predicament to be in though.

I work in the movie industry, so yeah one day I could be 10 mins from work or I could be 4 hours away from home and need to be there within 5 hours of being called, I've mostly been doing splits and working afternoons and getting off at 3-4am so I'd be stuck and we all know how much uber loves the 4am rides ,

Plus I live somewhere fairly secluded so it's not the easiest to get uber or a buss around here I could find one to get me an uber sure but still a good half hour walk to find one, I defenetly am getting rid of my Tacoma and buying somthing different asap

Fucken dumbfounded me that these can't be replaced and NO ONE STOCKS THE CORECT JOINT I mean how the fuck dose that happen I don't know how a driveshaft shop could replace it unless they altered the caps and rings they have then it's just a matter of time till the next piece of crap falls off

EVERYONE NEEDS TO GET RID OF THERE FIRST GEN TACOMA

That is why I have 4 street legal vehicles my repairs tend to go sideways all to often

I think this one might have snuck up on him. Renting a car may be cheaper than uber if that's really going to run you $1k a week...

A double carden joint is a bitch to rebuild
Normally its a repalce the joint. Which os 2 ujoints and a ball socket. It's not something i think you want to try and tackle yourself. Take it to a driveline shop or get a used drive shaft. I could get you a used shaft and send by Wednesday. But would probably cost $200.

id need to get my tools from work to get the dimensions, but you know those are for a second gen by the snap rings, the rings themself are going to be very thin

Wouldent be a bad idea my slip yoke has been sheered a bit, but how are the joints going to be, I'm wondering if it'd be worth it to have a custom shaft made with new joints but I got no idea if that's possible, if I gave my driveshaft to the shop I'd imagine they'd have the same problem finding a UJoint thatd work

www.car-part.com came up with a couple in SoCal for 1998. You might be able to find one close to you if you search through the model years and make some calls to places that have them that could ship them.

How much did he charge just for an idea of what I might be looking at if I take my blown up one over there?
