    I had the same problem... wire wheel, rust converter.. and some semi-gloss piss can ....

    I see discolouration from the weld tempurature.

    I also see orange rust spots, particularly in OP's last photo. They absolutely do rust in time because the paint coverage isn't great .

    That frame is from a pre recall truck so I'm not sure how it's applicable.

    That discoloration you're showing is on a TIG weld which wont rust.

    Do you have MIG examples where discoloration was uniformly bronze colored?

    My Tacoma looked the same, and my 4runner. Just use rust reformer, oil based paint, fluid film. I'm getting ready to fluid film my runner very soon. I also did the ac line extension on the taco when I had it, and did the same on my 4runner as it too dumps water right onto the frame below.
