I don't know how there can be any debate. I don't care where you're from, if your in our country illegally, get out and come back legally. Sneaking in is an insult to the generations of Americans who did it right, no matter how long it took. Killing this man is unthinkable, no matter who did it.

Very unfortunate :( AZ has their hands full, and having just spent the last few months out there, can say that these types of stories are way too common out there.

I work for the feds and if you guys even knew half of the stuff that goes on you'd be appalled. (whether it be the amount that actually comes through the borders, or the amount that they parole/ror/osup/etc after initial contact) Its a disturbing situation and the current administration is making it worse in all honesty.

I use to live NW of Phoenix out past Speedworld, I wish they would get a good handle on this situation. These illegal aliens are running around like Rocl Stars and messing up the pay scale every where they go. And turning anything nice into CRAP. I work with them day by day, They treat the place like it's ther personal trash can.

Yet most of your neighbors keep electing politicians that are pushing for amnesty and could have paid for 10 border fences with the money they directed towards Obamacare.

I am in no way saying you support these people Notty. You and your outraged neighbors need to change the faces that you send to Washington this fall. Obama and our XXY chromosome former governor need to be stopped! Before I get accused of preaching slanted politics, Bush was no friend of the U.S. side of the board either.

Murder of Arizona Rancher Roils Immigration Debate

    AP

The killing of the third-generation rancher has become a flashpoint in the immigration debate as politicians cite the episode as further proof that the U.S. must do more to secure the violent U.S.-Mexico border.
Arizona rancher Robert Krentz, pictured here in 2008, was killed on his own property 35 miles outside of the border town of Douglas, Ariz.

Cattle rancher Rob Krentz often helped illegal immigrants he found stranded on his sprawling Arizona ranch.
Then two weeks ago, he and his dog were gunned down shortly after he reported spotting someone who appeared to be in trouble. Foot tracks were followed from the shooting scene about 20 miles south, to the Mexico border, and authorities suspect an illegal immigrant.
The killing of the third-generation rancher has become a flashpoint in the immigration debate as politicians cite the episode as further proof that the U.S. must do more to secure the violent U.S.-Mexico border.
The governors of New Mexico and Arizona took a public tour of the border this week in support of more security. The subject has ignited endless discussion on blogs, and has been politicized in the U.S. Senate Republican brawl between J.D. Hayworth and incumbent John McCain.
Hayworth has accused McCain of not doing enough to protect U.S. citizens from growing border violence. McCain, for his part, has called for increased security in response to the killing.

"The federal government must do all it can within its power to curb this violence and protect its citizens from criminals coming across the border from Mexico," McCain wrote in a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, a former Arizona governor.
Krentz will be remembered at a funeral Saturday in Douglas, about 35 miles southwest of his 35,000-acre ranch and the home where he raised three children with his wife of 33 years, Sue.
Investigators have not definitively tied the killing to the drug trade, but the slaying comes at a time when well-armed cartel factions have battled each other and federal authorities in several Mexican border cities, resulting in thousands of brutal killings.
The violence has been concentrated in Mexico's Ciudad Juarez on the Texas border and Tijuana, just south of San Diego, and hasn't yet spilled over into Arizona's remote border region.
Krentz's death sparked fears that was changing.
The Krentz family was no stranger to the problems of illegal immigration. Their home was robbed, and Krentz once found the carcass of one of his calves that had been killed for food, presumably by starving immigrants.
But the soft-spoken rancher bore no ill will toward illegal immigrants, according to friends and family.
They say Krentz sympathized with their desire for a piece of the American pie. He gave them food and water if they were in distress, and sometimes he'd call the U.S. Border Patrol, which meant deportation but also guarantees of medical assistance and escape from possible death.
"If they come and ask for water, I'll still give them water," Krentz once told PBS' Religion & Ethics Newsweekly in 1999. "You know, that's just my nature."
Wendy Glenn, who has a ranch south of the Krentz property and is a good family friend, said she believes she heard some of Krentz's last words when he used a radio to talk to his brother the day he was killed.
"He says, 'I see an immigrant out here, and he appears to need help. Call the Border Patrol,"' Glenn, 69, said she heard Krentz say at about 10:30 a.m. on March 27. "He was not frantic. He was not calling for help."
After Krentz went missing for hours and hadn't communicated with anyone, Glenn said she and others assumed he'd been robbed and stranded somewhere on his property. But his body was found just before midnight in a remote area of his land.
After he was shot, the 58-year-old Krentz managed to drive away in his all-terrain vehicle before losing consciousness and dying from his wounds. Nothing had been stolen from him, and his gun was still in its holster. His dog was killed, too.
Glenn and those who knew Krentz say he never would have confronted anyone he thought was dangerous. Most likely, he was just trying to help, they say.
"There are a lot of people out here who are unarmed that need help, and I'm sure Rob didn't realize he was armed," Glenn said. "I think he approached to see if he could help him and the guy thought maybe he was going to get arrested, that maybe Rob was the law ... I don't know what the guy thought, but he never gave Rob a chance."
She said Krentz was modest, honest and an unwavering friend, and that everyone who knew him is "absolutely devastated."
"I keep expecting to see Rob walk in the door," she said. "The reality now is very hard to face. That man is gone forever."
Krentz's family members declined requests for comment, but released a statement saying he was a humanitarian "who bore no ill will toward anyone" and instilled in his children the importance of honesty and fair dealing.
The family said they hold no malice toward the Mexican people and blame the U.S. and Mexican governments for the killing.
"Their disregard of our repeated pleas and warnings of impending violence toward our community fell on deaf ears shrouded in political correctness," according to the statement. "As a result, we have paid the ultimate price for their negligence in credibly securing our borderlands."http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/04/10/murder-arizona-rancher-roils-immigration-debate/

    NONE.....yet!
Your last statement is pretty ballsy......If I recall correctly, just a few years ago, most illegal aliens were in love with our last president because he was going to offer amnesty.

I do know more than half of the stuff that goes on, and I believe that until the American public and every single politician can get an accurate depiction of what is going on, this BS will continue. I would probably guess that 3/4 of the people here would be scared shitless if they were to run into some of the stuff going on down there.

This is not an issue that can be compromised on...there should be no second thoughts about protecting our borders at all costs...America needs to go all in on this if they want it fixed.

^^^Agreed. Think about it. A drug trafficker ILLEGALLY crossed the border, shot and killed a Rancher AND his dog, in OUR country.

Shits gonna get real in Cochise County. News had a segment saying how the gun sales there sky rocketed after the slaying of this Rancher.

    RIP.

She'll sign it. Among other things, the illegals take away jobs from Americans (no matter what their descent).

My Wife is Hispanic and is all outraged by this bill. I however think it is great and we have had many heated discussions about it. I basically told her that something needs to be done and this bill is about the best thing to do. I then proceeded to tell her that if you are Hispanic and don't want to be potentially profiled as an illegal because of your looks, then don't live so close to the border. If she wants to continue to live here, then accept it as a fact of life for where we live and move the hell on.

Needless to say I slept on the couch last night!! :D

Illegal alien is not a race, it's a crime. If you get stopped and have no licence and don't speak English, well, your going to get scrutinized.
If there was an influx of German and Irish here illegally, I'd certainly understand if I got stopped a few more times than I might normally. It's just the way it is.
Just like we shouldn't be patting down old white ladies at the airport when someone with a turban walks right by. Profiling can be good.

    Arizona immigration bill protesters arrested

by Mary Jo Pitzl - Apr. 20, 2010 12:48 PM
    The Arizona Republic
The Arizona immigration bill sparked a heated protest Tuesday, as State Capitol police arrested nine people who chained themselves to the old Capitol building doors.
The nine were protesting Senate Bill 1070, the wide-ranging illegal immigration measure, when they were arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct. Once they indicated that they intended to stay chained to the doors until the governor vetoed the bill, police arrested them.

They were held in the building and then transferred to Maricopa County Sheriff's Office bus. As the protesters were led outside, they chanted "Veto 1070."
All nine are students. Six are from Arizona State University, two are from Pima Community College and one is from South Mountain Community college.
All nine had their own attorneys.
"It was a symbolic gesture to block out the hatred and bigotry that has emanated from the passage of this bill to keep it from entering the executive," attorney Antonio Bustamente said.
Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer has five days to sign the bill, veto it or do nothing and allow it to become law. Brewer said she'd be reviewing the legislation over the next several days, indicating that she will likely take the maximum time allowed to her before taking action.
Faith leaders and community groups organized a large protest at the Capitol Tuesday.
The Border Action Network and Reform Immigration FOR America said they had 50,000 petitions calling on Brewer to veto the legislation. Leaders said the "moral implications of this harsh and ineffective bill that would create fear and mistrust throughout Arizona's Latino community, while doing nothing to address the broken immigration system."

why on earth would anyone other than illegals protest this? I mean c'mon you fucking morons...get the illegals out and more jobs will open up, less crime, less drugs, and probably lots more that I'm missing.

several people on here are right, america needs to stop being so GD "politicaly correct". Take a stand for our counrty, it's going to shit because no one wants to get their hands a little dirty or seem "racist". You can do anything these days without being called racisit.
McCain needs to stand the fuck up and say "you cross the border illegaly, you get shot. End of story." Let's see how long it takes before they dont wanna chance it anymore.

Ya i agree with you this is the best thing to do. In a perfect world we wouldn't need to profile, but if the majority of the illegals are hispanic it is a no brainer that the first people you would check to see if the are illegal are hispanic people. If you are here legally you have nothing to worry about, you might get your feelings hurt, but show them a drivers liscense, and go on your way.

Whats worse is that ICE (immagration customs enforcement) cant even arrest people here in ks and deport them-too broke and the comissioner is scared shitless of getting sued. ICE is becoming a self-licking ice cream cone, just like the IRS. Im all for the isreali approach, a wall and a 100m buffer zone.
Edit: what happened to the Minutemen?
