Please post pics in the correct orientation!

Looks pretty bad IMO... Did you take a hammer and screw driver and poke and beat on it. From the looks of it, I'd bet you have rust through on that truck.

Did not have a hammer, no. The body actually is clean, there is a pic where it looks like rust, that was actually leaves in the parking lot. The undercarriage is the concern.

And by undercarriage I meant the frame, my apologies if incorrect.

    Real question, would it matter?

    https://www.autoblog.com/2016/11/14/toyota-3-billion-settlement-rusty-truck-frames/

    SNIP

According to Reuters, Toyota has reached a settlement in a class action lawsuit involving owners of various Toyota trucks with severe frame rust. The settlement is for $3.4 billion and will pay for inspecting and replacing frames on affected trucks. It also allows Toyota to avoid admitting any wrongdoing. In total, this settlement could include 1.5 million 2005-2010 Toyota Tacomas, 2005-2008 Sequoias, and 2007-2008 Tundras. Reuters reports that vehicles are eligible up to 12 years to the day that they were sold. The Wall Street Journal reports that Toyota will reach out to owners via mail, notices to publications, and internet methods.

I'm fairly certain you had to have owned your truck before a certain date in order to be eligible.

Is the spare tire in the bed? Here in Ohio the frames rot out around the spare mostly. When I was looking for a Tacoma I did not bother wasting my time if the spare was not mounted underneath.
When you see a Tacoma sitting for sale for awhile and it looks good definitely look underneath. The rust in your pictures looks like mostly surface rust. I would have it put up on a lift and let a mechanic check it out to be safe. Good luck.

I just got my frame replaced under the new settlement. There are conflicting opinions about what the date line of ownership has to be. If I were you I would not buy it. Like I said run for it. But if you want to buy it and roll the dice on getting a new frame. First talk to your local dealer on what the cutoff ownership date is.

I inspect homes for a living, and would liken to a bad 'flip'.

I wouldn't buy it, unless i knew a frame replacement was in its future, ....and not just based on what you see above, but if that is what we see above, all of the hardware extending from the rusted areas would be affected as well, as would other stuff other than the stuff they replaced (bumper, etc._ and that frame rust on an 06' would also suggest at least some body panel repairs / repaints to rusted areas, which would likely be more ''temporary', that not.

If it were a house, i would suggest 'money pit'. Keep looking.....

Have the owner meet you at dealership for an inspection.
If frame fails toyota should be able to tell you rather it matters if you owned it before any kind of date to qualify.
Worst case have owner set up frame replacement BEFORE you buy.

If that happens I doubt the owner would like to sell it or he will be a cunt and bump the price high off the roof haha I would recommend not buy it homie. Keep looking.
