go for it, and I'll see if Dan and another jeep guy want to come.

@NeonHeights your truck should be able to do this too as long you go carefully. Even with just 4hi you'll just need to stick to the main trail.

For those thinking of doing arbdeg, this is what @llamasmurf had to say. He is fully armoured and lower than stock. He isn't new to off roading either. So yes the trail is definetely doable stock without armour like @Joe23 has said, HOWEVER you need to take your time and pick your lines. I don't remember what part of the trail we ran that day (maybe @NorilskSever can help me out) but there is parts of the trail you can do stock (I have personally done them stock) but there are the off shoots that can be a little more picky. @Joe23 is stock suspension but is armoured.

I was thinking of just getting to the campsite with my truck and then riding with one of you guys during the day just to get a feel for what its like/get an idea of what I need for my truck kind of thing.

ya it is definitely one that if stock guys were there you'd need to pretty much stick to the main hydro line trail portion which isn't a prlbem and most of all just take it slow, and cautious. DO NOT go fast at all. Its pretty much a trail you should be in 4lo 1st gear for most of the time.

When I did it with eugene we did portions of ardbeg, ardbeg south and I think a tiny bit of Ardbeg north (its 4 different trails on OF4 includng black lake loop)

I heard skid in a few spots when I stopped paying attention or was going to fast. The biggest issue I found on a lot of these trails is my heavy foot. Especially when climbing over obstacles you want to crawl as slow as you can, pretty much don't even touch the gas just let it coast off stuff. As soon as you go to fast you will hit hard.

For the hill portions you should definitely be 1st gear 4lo so you can limit brake use, otherwise you'll feel brake fade.
Its also something you probably need a better all terrain. For those with the TRD Sport or the Limited those toyos likely will not handle this trail very well.

My stock steps will be my sliders for this run haha.

I somehow have a big dent on the underside of them from the previous run. No idea how. So theyre probably going to the recyclers when I finally end up removing them and putting on real sliders

Oh and I ended up buying bushwackers instead of a diff breather. dont judge

4lo still not fixed so glad 4hi will work

only place 4hi might be an issue is the steep hills, just need to be careful. water isn't that bad here unless you do the north trail and black lake loop. should be good to go.

and put a sprinkler under the truck and let her run for a while lol.

i left a garden hose flowing in my skids for 15 min each to help flush it out and still messy, also went under with a brush and cleaned it down. still not spotless but much better

So for Ardberg if we are doing the North Trail - it is completely stock friendly, can easily be done in 2WD. South Trail will require driver to take it slow and select lines more carefully, but no need for amor either, 2WD friendly too, I went up to a nice drifting area after the 2nd bridge in 2WD only.
The loop will require amor and good tires and 4Lo. Especially the fucking entrance... One time I got stuck there and I had to recover the recovery boards..., another time I slid into a fucking tree and even after that I am still not convinced in buying sliders and adding unnecessary weight! I like to keep my truck stealthy on the streets.

Well, I support the theory that it's all about the driver skills and not the armor ;)
My truck has over 100000000000000000 scratches and dings, and it's black. Nothing will help it now, only complete wrap or repaint.
