I'm hyped about it. I think it's an awesome size for the third gens. Makes the truck even more capable 'out of the box' which is saying something.

I was wondering about how the offset and backspacing would have an affect on the 255/85's, as I was looking at running that size with the 16" TRD Pro wheels, but if they are working with the Methods; I should have no issues with the Pro wheels. I am wanting to go with the Toyo Open Country MT in that size. http://www.tiresdirect.net/TOYO-Open-Country-MT-LT255-85R-P5024C176.aspx

I am lifted as previously stated. BUT I'm talking no rub full stuff or anything, can I recreate normal hieght driving conditions anymore, no but a lift doesn't help clear tires offroad just on road. Can't confirm either way though..

And another note, a buddy and I both agreed the tire on a wider wheel make the 255s look sooooo much better. So these will be on till it's time for 35s:D

That's what I was looking to hear. Now just a matter of getting the funds together and getting the set up going. Thank you for the quick response.

I like the idea of the 35"s as well.

What is the difference between the trd offroad rims and the stock sr5 rims?

I like the idea as well, just not the work to clear them and then regear.

Yes, that is the part that usually sucks.

I find it odd that these Tacoma's with the 3.91 or 4.30 gears (AT or MT) struggle with the 35's, but when I had the 35's on my Silverado with 3.42 gears (while sluggish until Hypertech tuner) or on my F150 with 3.55 gears; had really no issues in getting all of that extra unsprung weight moving. Different beast I guess. Maybe because more engine as compared to the Taco.

That's what I guess. I'll probably get them on prior to regear, so I guess I'll experience the shittyness first hand.

Still undecided on which tire to go with. I am currently leaning towards the Goodyear mt/r:anonymous:

I have always had great luck with the Nitto Trail Grapplers in 35's, but the Nitto Ridge Grapplers are also a good looking tire that seems to get some very good results/reviews. Just not available for the 16" wheels.

So im just wondering, does anyone have any experience either A) running these size tires on stock wheels and 1.25" wheel spacers or B) running these size tires on aftermarket wheels with 3.25" backspacing (7" wheel, -19MM offset, 7.5" wheel, -25ishMM)? Trying to make sure I have enough room to clear a dual shock setup, and also try to avoid rubbing at the same time.

Yep! 7SX class is the plan, lots of work left to go though as you can tell

The third gen might actually make a halfway decent race truck, since they gave it the torque and power curve of a car...
