    Nice work, Mike!

You wouldn't happen to know if that would work with the Scepter MFC/MWC, would you? I might grab some surplus ones for the Moab trip, and this would be a good storage solution.

I mean I would imagine building something like this would work with any style can since you can literally build it around the can. All I did when I was building it was keep testing my cans to make sure the fit was tight and solid haha In fact I actually designed and measured it a certain way and welded the one piece wrong and all I had to do was cut it out and re-weld it where it was supposed to go.

    Nice!

Did you sketch anything up or just dive in?

I did a really rough sketch at work one day, then measured and started working with/cutting up materials I had lying around the garage. The hinge parts were stuff I just stumbled across at Home Depot. Ideally I want to skin the sides with sheet metal too with some interesting designs. Probably won't happen before Moab though.

Cool. I probably won't have time to get something together before Moab, but if I do I'll hit you up for some pics if you don't mind.

Yeah of course man, you know that. How are you holding your spare fuel now? Not that it will really be necessary. For me this was more about securing the shower can more than anything lol Kinda just had an idea in my head and then started cutting parts and piecing it together before I even had access to a welder. Having a chop saw to get the 45 degree and 90 degree cuts helped a fuck ton too. It was a pretty awesome feeling when it was done to see it function and look like what I pictured in my head :p

Yeah, I really want to get a MIG of my own soon. I hate having bright ideas that I can't fab myself for lack of tools and know how.

Right now I have two 3gal Rotopax that I picked up on a GB a while back, but I'd like to sell those and move to a MFC type can. The Rotopax just aren't a good volume vs. space trade, but I'll use them for the trip if I need to.

Dude a nice Mig setup is going to be the next big next level mod for me. I really really enjoyed building that thing and I know I would be building crazy stuff all the time if I had access to a welder. A really fun skill to hone.

Haha they were to me. I was proud of maybe 5 welds. :p I need more practice, but I had a blast building that shit. It was even better having a whole crew around the BPF shop working on stuff.

No doubt! I tried a MIG for the first time at my buddy's when he welded up my bed rack and it was a blast!

I'd love to have a welder, a nice band saw, a bender and a notcher. I'd be fabbing crap all the time!

Right? Just a welder and a chop saw would be good for me to start I think.

And here are some better shots of the latch and hinge @jubei and @Subway4X4

You might want to put a tack weld on the hinge pin, unless it's got a set screw.
    Nice job though!

    And a grinder . LOL.

Don't mind me. I have a welder sitting in my garage. Haven't used it yet. @Sub-Zero has tho.

One of these days I'll find the time to mess with it.
