I've had the light and warning come on a few times but always for the right front tire. For some reason that tire has dropped down to 25psi and always 1 or 2 psi below the others.

I took it to the dealer once and they checked things, aired up the tires and said it was good. Now I have the light on again for the same tire. Granted, that tire is lower than the rest but while driving it warmed up and the psi increased to 27 psi. The low pressure light stayed on as well as the orange highlight on that tire on the TPI screen.

My question is, why doesn't the warning trip when other tires are at 27 psi or lower? It only trips for the right front tire. If the right front was 25 psi and the other three were 26 psi why don't all tires show the orange indicator on the TPI screen?

I'll take it to the dealer again but find it's best if I can clearly communicate the issue.

    2 possibles I see.

    A. The TPMS resetwas pushed when all but right fromt were not up to proper pressure. Therefore they are close to seeting off the warning when @ proper pressure but the RTF is in the "sweet spot"

    B. There is a problem with ECU or the sending units are not functioning correctly

    Good luck!!

It's clearly the right front as it is highlighted on the TPI screen. This morning it said 25psi and was highlighted. The others said 26 or 27 psi and were not highlighted. After driving a bit the RFT increased to 27 psi but stayed highlighted so I'm confused why if 27 is low enough to trip the warning why the others didn't trip when at 27 or lower.

Of course the spare could be low too, but that's not the one causing the warning right now.

Does it care what the literal pressures are, or just the difference by noting one is lower than the others?

Don't know what that trigger delta is, but it seems delicate even on my 13.

Once a light is triggered, will airing up clear it, or is a reset of some kind required?

it could be that 27 isn't low enough to "trip" the sensor, but it is low enough to leave it on if it was already tripped.

So @25, TPMS trip, but won't clear until it goes back above 28. Just a guess, we have a system similar to this at work just for the case like you described. I want to know if something triggered my warning and not clear instantly cause then I might not see it. Hope I explained that where it makes sense...

    Have they re-implemented that?

Spares stopped being monitored sometime in gen2 years; my 13 doesnt have that.

I think it's the actual pressure in any tire that trips it. Not sure what pressure trips but based on a couple experiences it seems 28 or 29 psi is fine as I haven't seen the light until it's around 25 and stays on at least to 27. At least on this one tire. The others have never tripped the warning even when at 27 or below.

OP, have you tried airing all tires up to proper pressure and re-setting the TPMS...?? I hope you would have already done that, but you did not say..!

That's the 1st thing to do.... Don't forget to air up at a cold time in the morning, not after driving, etc.

After enduring numerous flats with the stock Goodyear Adventures, I can say I have seen the warning go off at 25PSI more than once. R.I.P. Goodyear Adventures...

This. Page 462 of the owners manual. "When the tire pressure warning system is initialized, the current tire inflation pressure is set as the benchmark pressure."

The light will come on when the pressure drops a certain # of PSI below whatever it was when the system was set/reset. Chances are that the right front tire was at a different PSI when the system was initially set.

I took it to the dealer before and the said they reset it all. I'm assuming it's acting proper, but maybe the RFT was somehow set differently.

I just took it in again and they said that it's set to trip the warning when the pressure in ONE tire drops to 25psi. Once one tire is low the others don't matter. I guess that means it's acting normal.

Now, I'm still concerned why the RFT is the only problem tire. They are rotating the tires soon so if the problem follows the tire then I'll have the address the sensor and/or tire.

why are you running 27 psi ? I run at 35 PSI and they creep to 36 -37 after they warm up.

    This.

Yep and with temps dropping due to fall, every 10 degree drop in temp is a 1lb drop in tire pressure. Air up a little more to give yourself more of a clearance.

Check for leak in valve stem or tire. You are going be asking next. Why is my tire wearing weird? I'm going say because you have to keep airing it up. Tire can not develop a wear pattern when pressure is up an down all time.

I'm running close to 40. No TPMS in my TRD Sport wheels (they were given to me by the dealer without TPMS when i bought my SR).. only took 700 miles for my TPMS light to come on.
