    Just regular maintenance.
Hello, Maybe I am searching the wrong keywords but cannot find instructions specific to the 1st gen to disable the beeper when using keyless entry. 2nd gen instructions didn't work.

Anyone have a link to instructions?

    Thanks for any help!
    Joe

I jammed an earplug into the hole in the beeper. It still beeps but it's very quiet.

    PIEZO OPERATION MODE

One of the first things that I did was to turn off the annoying "beep" that would happen every time I locked or unlocked the truck. To turn this feature on or off, follow these directions:

The factory setting for the PIEZO operation mode is ON. When set to "OFF", only operation during REMOTE ARMING & DISARMING is affected.

1: Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to on (not acc).
2: Using one remote control, press and hold both buttons at the same time for over 2 seconds, until the status monitor's LED turns on.
***You must perform the next steps within 30 seconds***
To turn the piezo off: Press and release the bottom remote control button once. The piezo chirper chirps once, and the exterior lights flash once. Turn the ignition switch to the lock position. The piezo chirper chirps 3 times, and the exterior lights flash 3 times.

To turn the piezo on: Press and release the bottom remote control button twice. The piezo chirper chirps twice, and the exterior lights flash twice. Turn the ignition switch to the lock position. The piezo chirper chirps 3 times, and the exterior lights flash 3 times.

If you do not turn the ignition key to lock, or exceed 30 seconds during the programming steps, the status monitor's LED will turn off and the previous operation mode will remain.

I just want the honking to go away. I get the beep AND it honks. A bit redundant...

No, not really. I still want the system to arm, just without the horn honking as I do it. My friend has a nearly identical 2003 doublecab, and his just beeps (no horn). I don't know why mine honks AND beeps.

    also a few posts later...

i took it to the dealer and basically all you have to do is press the little button underneath your dash to disable the honk.

You should get unlimited health points for doing this too.

Sorry for the slow reply! Thanks for all the suggestions! I was not able to get any of the above suggestions to work. I finally disconnected the little horn (Pizeo?). It is next to the battery. I had to take the battery out to get it disconnected. still locks and unlocks fine. all the blinkers flash when I turn it on and off so I can confirm it locked or unlocked from inside the house.

I did the ear plug trick. Solved the problem. Dogs aren't afraid of the beep now.
