Lots more to do storage (drawer or slider) and rear bumper, not to mention a shit load of wiring.

Still trying to figure out why there is so much animosity from the ground tent folks toward RTT folks. When I was a poor backpacker/climber/dirtbag back in the day, I slept in a tent on the ground for weeks on end. Now that I'm older and can afford it, I own a truck and a RTT. 'Nuff said. Both have their purpose and their benefits & drawbacks. Having said that, I sleep better in the RTT than I do in my bed at home. The thing is just badass, plain and simple.

Full disclosure: I paid about $1000 for the tent at REI with membership discounts, plus $800 for the bed rack (CBI). Not cheap, but we spend about 60 nights out camping/year-well worth it to sleep in a remote location with the stars overhead...

I don't understand what difference any of it makes? This whole site is full of it though. If somebody is happy in a tent  If somebody wants a 44' pull behind  as long as we get to do what makes us happy it shouldn't effect anybody else. It's just like all the rest of the way through TW, if you want to keep your truck stock  if you want to build a brodozer  if you want to build a rock crawler . WTF difference should it make to anybody else what you do or how you want to do it unless it interferes with them. My wife and I have our own way we want to camp and I couldn't care less if others like it or not. The object to me should be just to have fun and enjoy life some.

Sounds like a great philosophy on life.....but we are humans after all so my way or the highway. But personally I subscribe to your line of thinking.

I just get aggrevated goinng through TW seeing people constantly put down because they want to do something their own way. I see it with myself being looked down upon because I want to do things a little different. I can appreciate the differences in truck setups, camping styles, hell lifestyles even. It's not my place to judge anyway. I'm just too old and have enough of my own issues to worry about why somebody does something differently than I would. Hell if we all did everything the same wouldn't that be boring?

Here's a few pics of last weekend's camping trip to Hosmer Lake in the Central Oregon Cascades. We endured almost constant rain/drizzle and 35- 50 degree temps all weekend. There was even new snow overnight at slightly higher elevations... classic Fall weather. We had a blast! :D IMG_1572.jpgIMG_1580.jpgIMG_1575.jpg

Oh man I step out for a little while I'm busy at work and this turned into another RRT vs ground tent? Who cares what someone else buys. Like I told the D-bag that was in here not long after the thread was created who thought he was the best shit ever because he used "ultra light" gear out of his Subaru and everyone else was wrong and wasn't doing true camping. Who cares what someone else uses and buys as long as he/she/they are getting out and enjoying themselves. That's all this thread was intended for was to just get out, have some fun, show off some good scenery for others to enjoy. Of course though, you get the ones who come here to compare and talk about what others have for whatever reason that may be. Personally, I've used ground tents, my popup camper, and cabins. I enjoy all three of those options, but I haven't had the chance to get a RTT yet. Would I get one if I felt like I would actually use it often? Of course because I think they have a good purpose. I like to leave my campsite and go places then come back later, so that wouldn't be the best option for me. Anyway, nice pics so far. I plan on taking my camper out to the mountains soon to get the kid out for another camping trip. He's only 9 months old and been on a few so far. He loves sitting outside and looking around so I figure why not take him along as well.

I guess that guy decided he would step out because he hasn't said much since that day.

A view from my campsite a couple weekends ago. Hot Springs, NC.

Am I the only one with my RTT coming off the rear of the truck? Seems like everyone has it off the side.
