What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Yes I covered alot of the South side of Rimrock, wanted to get up before the snow was 3ft deep. It had about 6inches so far.

Been playing and running to many trails, back to work so no more ramdom week day 3-5 day trips. The bumpers turn is here, along with the other improvments.

Ride is nice considering no shocks on at the moment. I had broke the passenger side rear shock so I'm kinda used to the bounce. I'm probably getting shocks tomorrow locally.

Getting a light front end squeak at low speed when I hit bumps/potholes.

Check your lower ball joints, with the jack and pry bar test.

 

Dropped the auto transmission pan on my 2000 4x4 to find my broken dipstick, replaced the filter and cleaned the magnets while I was in there, and put it all back together. Then tried to put a new drain plug in and managed to completely strip it out .

Your eyes are lying. Notice how the front of the fender well is right at the cab.

 

I noticed that but I also thought there should be less space between the rear of the flare and end of the bed.

 

Toyota normally doesn't, there may be a 5 digit number on the plug, I may be able to work with that.

Looking into getting my windows tinted soon. My only concern is the weird mirrored looking tint from factory on the back side windows (i've got a xtra cab). Would like to get the small windows tinted darker also. Has anyone had issues with the factory tint and new tint on front windows looking mismatched? A guy I work with has a 96 Tacoma and its a very noticeable difference.

 

Yes, the wand is great to get through the rails. All-in-all, not a terrible process. Would be a piece of cake to do it on a lift, not so much on ramps.

@Fernando I did new speakers and a HU for around $160. That should leave you enough for floor liners too, depending on your budget.

 

Sometimes you have to go the extra mile, literally. Took a while to find a 1st gen, color-matched 5' cap in good shape. When I did, I had to drive a little more than that, in the rain, and I paid a premium. $850 including a BedRug.

 

It took me about a week to find a color matched one. When I did it was 40 minutes down the road and he wanted $150 for it. Only problem was one of the struts was missing and the other was dead. So $175 into it I'm happy with it
