It is! Scroll down on the page, you can buy the new chip for $12. Extremely reasonable, in my opinion.

Says you use the shifter to change modes while the car is turned off, so not on the fly, but doesn't sound terribly difficult.

    From the site:
It's described as the last sentence on the description for the chip.

That was just an update to fix programming. This one provides extra functionality, and price for unit has increased as well, so it's only fair to pay a little bit for new chip.

    Seriously, $12 is minor.

Do you expect a new computer or phone every time they come out with updated hardware? Nope.

Okay...I got the original update chip when it was first offered.
Which Level is this on the new V2?

I've been doing a bunch of road trips lately and see that the SSP is not helping my gas milage. Out west, many of the roads have you driving +65 easily and the SSP is holding the truck in 5th too long at/around 70 mph (as dcz108 has described it would). Hopefully the new chip version with mapping options will get the truck into 6th gear at 70 mph to drop from the 3k rpm in 5th on long straight/flat roads. Last trip I used the SSP for half the time and noticed that my mpg went up when not using it (mostly high speed flat highway). I'm guessing that I was right in the zone of the 5th/6th gear shift speed. Put ANY hills/mnts in the equation and its a non issue as the Tacoma can't pull any grade in 6th or 5th for that matter.

To provide a bit of feedback regarding the V2 selectable maps which are now available...

The baseline programming on all prior V1 units (which includes the update which the very first users were offered) is similar to Level 2 on the new selectable version.

Level 1 has most of the map indexed down by several mph, so you will see it upshifting to next gears sooner, including the 5th-6th shift which i've seen a few questions about. Getting 6th gear at 67-68 mph should be pretty easy at light throttle.

Level 3 provides higher shift points than baseline and is tailored toward oversize tires, towing, etc.

Personally I like Level 2 for my daily driving, although Level 1 is very nice if im looking for a bit less-agressive feel. For example if my kids have cups of kool-aid in their cup holders and im trying to keep them from getting dumped!. I use level 3 for trailer towing because it needs the higher RPM to maintain speed/torque, ie. holding 4th gear up through 60-65 or higher is the norm. (and recommended by toyota for towing).

Great to catch-up and read about the selectable options with the new $12 chip upgrade. Has anyone purchased this and felt any major improvement over the V2? Curious if it's worth the chip swap or not...

I tow a 2 axle enclosed 7x14 trailer - I'm looking forward to trying the V2 eprom, thanks again for making this truck everything Toyota refused to deliver from the mapping.

Wouldn't you know - *the day* I install my SSP they come out with an upgrade. $12 is fair - thanks! FYI, I'm sensitive to sound so I put some duck tape over the beeper and put the SSP under the Qi charger and so the sound is badly noticeable at a full stop. Highly recommended.

Would it be possible for you to post new graphs for each level? I think it would help us all figure out what is going to work best for the upcoming drive. Obviously 3 for towing but I'd be interested to see the differences between 1 and 2.
