I'll start off. Brought my kids to the park yesterday


On the way out we saw this little guy




Then we went home, watched football and cooked steaks on the grill for dinner

 

We bought our kids apple picking, other than that, just my weekly soccer game and getting shit done at the house.

 

I got literally nothing accomplished yesterday.... woooo!!!

 

"Interesting" day at the Big E on Saturday.

Yesterday took the kids to a "breakfast with Mickey Mouse" at a local play place, lunch at my parents, cut the grass in the afternoon, and then ate dinner on the deck since it was nice out.

 

I ordered a Gates tensioner, idler pulley (x3), and belt kit for my FJ yesterday. I finally got the FJ started on Friday, on jack stands, to try to charge up the Red Top. Seems that I have 12.5V in the battery now, which is awesome!

When I got the truck started, I remembered how much this thing SCREAMED. Practically every pulley is making horrible noises, and the belt is a little worse for wear. Once I get it on all 4 wheels again, I'll change em out.

 

As mentioned previously I worked on Saturday AM. Saturday afternoon I worked around the house doing the usual weekend chores, then in the evening hung out with some friends around the bonfire. Woke up with the gray light on Sunday and started splitting firewood before it got too hot, made it to about 10:30 and had to call it quits. Then canned up a bunch of tomato sauce (28 pints from around 35lbs of tomatoes) and went back outside and split some more once the sun moved around behind the trees.
Sweated a lot, too.

So nothing really that interesting, lol.

 

I'd swear you were a landscaper or something. You cut a lot of grass!

I need to do this in the worst way

Truth be told, I love doing it. Can't remember if I mentioned it before or not, but my buddy decided to start a landscaping business as a side job a few years ago. Saturdays only, to make some extra cash. Started by himself. I found out he was doing it by himself, felt bad and offered to help him out. This was before having kids.

We cut grass, trimmed bushes, mulch, and did fall cleanups as well. Did it for 4 summers/falls. Then I had my second and he had his first, and we "called it quits". He's a driver for UPS, and gets home late everyday, so he wanted to stay home with his son on Saturdays. He would throw me a few bucks, would make us breakfast in the morning, and would even buy lunch. By the time we stopped, we were cutting about 17 or 18 yards a Saturday.

I wouldn't know. I've stopped watching football over this can't stand for the National Anthem garbage that's going on.

 

Please don't take this the wrong way. I'm not a citizen, so I may or may not be "entitled" to an opinion about this, but...

Isn't that shit disrespectful, not standing for the anthem?? And why all the fuzz about it, and people not standing up for it?? All because the prez said some stuff, and now people get all up in arms and decide to "protest" by doing something that to me is disrespectful, when the anthem of YOUR COUNTRY is played??!!

 

Yeah that's definitely one side of it. Not to get too political, one side feels like the current state of the country is not worthy of their respect. Due to the president, race tensions, etc, they feel like the country is actively working against their best interests.
The other side of this issue feels that regardless of the state of the country and how it affects your life, you should stand up and respect the flag and the values that it stands for (including all those who have fought and died for it). Some people view that as blind nationalism, others view it as the American way.

I'm over here just glad it's a civil protest, not riots in the streets. I've had my fill of the "us vs them" politics lately.

 

Gotcha. I'll be honest, politics isn't my thing. Shit, I don't even follow the politics of my own country, that's how much I "care" about that crap.
