Initial plans were to leave overnight on the 16'th or early AM on the 17'th, and return on the 22'nd. Honestly, as of right now, its just @Tynan and I, and we're both super flexible on plans. Both of us have the time off approved, but we'll most likely only be taking one vehicle.

I borrowed some antique 'paper' maps from @exportexp , which have some pointers on where to go. The problem that I'm seeing is that the week we're going is 'out of season', and the major national parks are closed. We're expecting snow on the trip, since the week of Thanksgiving is the average first snowfall in that area of NM.

I want to do at least section 1 (Dell City to Cloudcroft). I think Section 2 is the "if", and dependent on weather at the time (Cloudcroft to Truth or Consequences). If its bad, I was planning on hitting the highway and switching straight to section 3 - from Truth or Consequences through the Gila National Forest. I have a couple sites bookmarked for the end of section 1 to camp, and section 3 is pretty open (from what I hear) and easy to road-camp. Since we have RTT's, I don't mind straying off the beaten paths.


Personally - I wouldn't mind straying down to Big Bend for a bit as well. The only issue I saw with it is that the park's busiest week is the week of Thanksgiving. @Tynan and I went over Labor Day last year, and the spots in the NP went crazy fast (we got the last spot down River Road, 3 hours of trail out in the boonies) ...and Thanksgiving is supposed to be busier. I love it down there, though....was just worried about potentially not getting a spot, since you can't reserve them in advance.

Open to options, though.

Installing a Snorkel on a GX470, then possibly CMC that day. Oct 21st though, seems that we're gonna have a wheeling event at HF.
