Last weekend's actions I'm pretty sure were a message directed at Trump. To me, this is just like the people who were burning the flag a while back. Sure, it's freedom of speech but it's misdirected. I don't understand how burning a flag or kneeling during a national anthem promotes their cause in any way, shape or form. I'm with you Nuno, just seems disrespectful.

Especially since so many people have died fighting for what to me, seems the "pride" of this country, which is freedom. Yeah, I get it, everyone is entitled to freedom of speech, yatta yatta, blah blah blah, but that just seems a bit disrespectful. You can protest and not disrespect your country, or what symbolizes your country at least.

Oh well.

 

Yeah lately it's been hard to wade through all of it. The girlfriend and I usually debate things over dinner, so she keeps me up to date.

I can totally see it being a less extreme version of burning the flag. Although to me it's closer to not saying the Pledge of Allegiance in the morning in high school since it has the words "under God" in it. I get where they're coming from, but that's not where I'm coming from. So they can do what they want, I'm gonna do me.

 

That's exactly where I land on this issue. Oh well. You do you, boo boo.

 

Frigging cheeseheads are lucky that Cinci only played 1/2 a game. 21 points on the board for the Bengals, including the 2nd pick six of Rodger's career, in the first 20 minutes of the game. Then the Bengals went full Bungle and only scored anther 3 points for the next 40 minutes and let the Packers tie it up to force the OT.

 

This weekend football was to respond to the SOB comment and to show solidarity amongst the teams. The comments made prior to the games where not said well, and should have been thought out better.

Now instead of using a National symbol of freedom, get out into the communities and help educate. Put your money where your mouth is.

Your first comment is exactly correct it is disrespectful I am speaking of this because I am a veteran and I show it to the national anthem and the flag .Respect to the flag it's, on my license plates of both cars and if I could get a license plate with a flag on it for my motorcycle I would do so , these people to me are overpaid I don't watch sports of any kind ,strange thing but I don't, doesn't interest me one bit .What is disrespectful is these people don't understand why the flag is important what is respectful is when you see a veteran who is confined to a wheelchair because he or she can't walk across the living room of their own home struggles to stand at a parade struggles without help saluting the flag he /she deserves my respect more than these people in sports. These people should actually take a course in Civics on why the flag and The Anthem and what the United States stands for is important yes they are entitled to an opinion but they're not doing thie correct thing it's a simple thing to stand for the national anthem and they do not have any kind of respect from me the people that defied that movement of not standing and actually participate in the national anthem saluting the flag hand on the heart apple pie Etc deserve my respect. I went to the veterans hospital today for something that needed to be taken care of and walking through the lobby I see a lot of veterans that are in a lot worse shape than I am however they're wearing that flag on their sleeve on their hats and then go out of their way to assist you even though you may or may not follow the guidelines for the national anthem and the American flag take a good look at a Veterans Hospital sometime maybe it'll change your mind and make you believe that you're not the most important one .

Cause I'm cheap so I don't have cable, we watch a lot on Apple TV with apps, if I happen to stumble on to some login info. Tonight we are watching the game on the ESPN app, and it freezes constantly, so tonight I put up the ESPN Spanish channel side by side. After a few minutes we start talking about how it's delayed, my sons says, "why wouldn't it be, they need to translate from the other channel." Ahh to be 13, needless to say we laughed our asses off. Best part was when we explained that the announcers are at the game, he still thought they needed to translate from the other broadcast.

That's hilarious right there. Kind of along those lines... When I moved here, I was in 8th grade. Took ESL and regular English class. One day, in the middle of class, the teacher turns to me and asks how I do it... If I have to translate in my head into Portuguese, then figure out what I want to say in Portuguese, translate it into English, and then say it.

Back then it used to be like that since I was fresh off the boat. Now it just "clicks".
