*THE RTT Owners Thread (With BS)*

There's a great 'roll on' method video floating around here somewhere. 5 minutes of looking and I couldn't find it. Anyway. Stand the RTT up, top facing the tailgate. Lift and flip the RTT on to the tailgate (should be upside down). Lift and flip again onto its end (bottom facing the cab of the truck and, more importantly the bed bars). Lower the RTT on to the bed bars (should hopefully be rightside up). Secure and presto. 3 minutes plus how ever long it takes to secure it.

 

Poor man's diy hoist.

 

No issues with snow or moisture getting trapped at the seam of the lower shell and fabric?

Nothing special. Some weight-rated pulleys and eye-screws from HD. Ratchet straps. Paracord. And a hand winch.

Actually not very elegant at all. The force of pulling the line isn't evenly distributed on the pulley system so it actually only raises/lowers the side closest to the winch. I have to crank some then go to the other side of the tent and either push it up or pull it down then continue cranking. But it gets the job done. Once the truck is in the right position, it only takes a couple minutes to get it secured/removed.

Mounted on standard Yakima towers with 60" bars, solid as a rock.

 

Finally got it onto the truck!



Not sure what I think about the white with my truck.. the color is a side-effect of my tent going to the czech republic, and that dudes tent coming to me. The thing is awesome. Gotta love having a full king size sleeping area when it opens up.

 

I could see painting the top black for your rig, but that could get the tent hot faster when in use. Really depends on the temperature ranges you expect to encounter.

 

I had originally ordered a black, and the company even offered to have it painted, but the wife has overruled my decision as she prefers the white. The one good thing, because of the mixup, I will be getting a free annex tent out of the deal.

I would say only a few dozen or so that i have seen and all centralized around the bases

 

Thats typically all it takes.. talk em into it once and then you have them hooked.

 

Do y'all treat it coat your tent fabrics on anything, protectant, water proofing etc?

 

I wipe down the cover itself with aerospace 303. It lives on my truck, and I don't want the cover really faded down the line.
