I'm tired of Amazon's shit for sure. I worked on th first four amazon buildings and was dumbfounded then with the lack of parking then. It's only getting worse now and the city still lets them build with no fucking parking.

I've heard bad things about working for Amazon. And crazy stories like everybody's desk is made out of recycled doors and shit. Everything looks like a garage because Amazon started in a garage. At the end of the day they line everyone up and the boss comes by and hits everyone with a broom stick and then makes them run a sander and apply primer for new desk materials.

That's not to far from the truth. My friend Nick was one of the first 10 employees for Amazon. He took his stock options and ran as soon as he could.

The string of shitty Seattle mayors and city council members (who the hell allowed a declared socialist, Sawant, on the city council?!?!?) are attempting to make Seattle like Amsterdam:
    • bicycles everywhere,
    • trains for mass transit,
    • closing city streets for busses only,
    • legal weed,
    • soon to be open - legal injection sites

Not sure how the homeless thing is handled in Amsterdam but Seattle is failing at curbing it or even addressing it.

If the tax rate goes to 40-50% like NL, I'm moving...

I'd be curious to know what indicators they're basing that off of. If it's the generally upward trending cost of houses alone, that doesn't mean much.

Subprime lending has cut back drastically from over $600bn in subprime loans to just over $50bn, new regulations/lending standards have all but eliminated ninja loans and raised the average credit score of people approved for mortgages by over 50 points. Before the crash, the lowest credit scores getting approved were in the 400s. Now they're in the 600s (where the average was back around the crash). We're not building nearly as many new houses as we were before the crash either, which should imply that the rise in home values is more organic, and based on supply/demand rather than being priced on what dipshits are willing to pay, because their lenders approved them for $800k, when they applied for a $200k loan. Additionally, the fed funds rate is now at 1.25% vs. >5% before the crash.

Other than the price of homes, nothing that I am aware of looks anything like what they looked like back around the time of the crash. I know a couple of you guys are pretty smart... If you'd like to school me otherwise, I'm down to learn.

For being a socialist, she's got a lot of good shit to say and do. Is there a huge inequality to wage and race in this city? Fuck yes there is. The cities idea of low cost housing has been $500k and over for several years. I don't know about you but that doesn't seem low cost to me. @AWilson013 is right about the housing, that's why shit companies like Amazon that bring all these people here and they have to live somewhere. Half the shit in the news about Sawant is an exaggeration or flat out lie. I don't agree with all of her political leanings but she is the only one speaking up about all the bullshit.

Judging by the link under "Amazon" when you type it, and the "Products Discussed in the Thread" we probably shouldn't bash them.

Plenty of other spots on the internet you can continue your discussion, but TW is not one of those places.

You can't seem to keep politics out of it.

Did you not read what I just wrote, or did you think it just didn't apply to you?

Mr. Moderator, I have a question: What is the purpose not allowing people to get in debates over things such as politics or bashing large companies? Just curious.

Is it all based on the attempt of not letting peoples' feelings get hurt?

EDIT: No ill-intent behind the question. Just genuine curiosity.

Here is the code of conduct:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/tacomaworld-code-of-conduct.17179/

If one reviews the code of conduct, in the helpful links section, the very first link shows No Politics Allowed which contains a detailed description of the very question you are asking.

As for the large company bashing, if you can keep politics out of it I could care less. Key word is "if."

Gotcha. I looked through it and thank you. I def see what tcbob is going for and its his site and I don't necessarily disagree (not that my opinion matters on this site anyway ).

I would say though, the words used are "Use of offensive and inflammatory language, discussions or content targeting an ethnic, political or religious group," etc. Simply talking about a subject does not classify as "targeting" a view (I understand how it could quickly turn into such talk) (also, this is just my lowly opinion and again. . .doesn't matter on this site).

On the following political thread caveat tcbob writes "Political threads are not allowed on this site. They frequently turn into hateful...etc"
-This is not a political thread, it is the "NW WA Meet / BS Thread" nothing political about it. (I would agree that having a political thread would turn into hateful rhetoric extremely fast, but would not be anyone's fault but there own for getting butt hurt about it since they CHOSE to enter that thread).

Back to the topic: These are just my observations in this case, for when flat out blanket rules are established to the masses. I know my opinion doesn't matter nor am I trying to change anything at all, I enjoy this site just fine as is. I appreciate the work you moderators do in upholding the rules of TW and I am in no way trying to challenge you or any moderator in this sense. I just don't agree that talking about a state politician (with no back and forth arguing) meets the intent that tcbob was going for when he established the Code of Conduct, that's all.

Anyway, keep up the great work you all do and letting us enjoy the truck site that is FULL of knowledge and experience, called TW . I hope this is not perceived as any negativity, as that is not the intent at all.
