Incorrect Mileage reported by Service Dealership

its usually just a mistype by the service tech. They should be able to fix it, but like i had said it can turn into a pain in the A** later on

 

Just got a call from relations manager, said they would be able to change the mileage on the paper work but not be able to add a note that states they made an error in reporting the correct mileage because the order was completed already. If that is the case wouldn't they not be able to change the correct mileage than. Sounds like they are just picking and choosing what can be changed..

 

i would keep fighting sounds like they dont want to take responsibility

 

Fine, a letter from them or their lawyer stating the mess up would be fine.

 

to me tho, that wouldnt fix the problem, it would just be paperwork, the error in the system, DMV and Carfax would still allways show incorrect, and who's to say that those places will honor a piece of paper saying this dealership made an error. Sounds ridiculous for them to not just correct it and send you on the way

 

That's why I added lawyer, little more work and cost. I would then copy letter and send out to places, maybe even local news.

 

Bottom line lesson learned was check the RO when you pick up. In my case the one time I had this happen years went by before it came up at trade in time.

 

On one of my other cars, when the dealer sets the key fob on the pad on the countertop it will read the time I stared the car that morning, outside temperature, how much fuel was in the car, mileage, any service coming due and probably some other info. So the technology is available.

 

The service department gets fined when this happens haha, but it has many fail safes to prevent it.

 

Do whatever you can to get it fixed. Mistakes like this can show up as possible odometer fraud on carfax and bite you in the ass if/when you try to sell it
