I remember doing a custom house where they had two four car garages with 12ft ceilings

I wish I could have one of those.
And one of my former foremen built a house out near orangeville, with two 2200sq ft garages. I wish. Part of the reason I want some good land up north is so I can build a good size shop on it.

I told Karoline that I don't care what house we get or how the house looks, but it needs a garage, or needs to be able to have one built....Went through 5 years of school messing around outside in a drive way with only a little shed. Never again.

SW Ontario has some real good buys for that...i know, I know wheeling up north...

But consider Michigan UP is close by and has same geography as central Ontario

ya man and a level working platform.
One of the reasons I can't do much is my driveway is too steep to work on. and I try doing it in the street and my miserable old cunt of a neighbour complains.

Single car garage isn't enough. Skye gets all mad when I say when we live together I need a minimum two car garage. She doesn't get it

I'm not fond of driving west or anything involving the 401 or QEW. Besides I need to work my way north.

If they ever start doing any mining up in Thunder Bay with that ring of fire thing for that mineral used in laptop screens I'm fucking gone. I already told the girlfriend whether she wants to come or not I'm going.

Jobs like that are two weeks on, one week off, take home $5500 a week. I will gladly do that and spend that whole week off camping.

I would settle with a one car and a flat concrete driveway need be.....Karoline see's the benefit though as she see's my struggle when I am working on my truck and on her car. I can get it done, but its a hassle. Ideally, be able to pull a vehicle in and not have to empty half of the garage.....

I want my whole wood shop still too though lol. My single car right now is full of all my tools, table saw, mitre saw, band saw, planer, joiner, router table takes up lots of space. Plus all the electrical material I have haha.

I need two car wide car and a half deep.

Skye is starting to realize it but she's just not fond of the cost of said garage, wasn't fond when I said I need a gas line in there for a heater and water line.
Fact is though aside from the framing, brick and roof, I have friends that can do the plumbing and gas, hell I've done some gas when I was non union could likely do it myself. And she's mad at my overkill of having a 100amp panel in there haha.

its seven 10hour days haha. Pretty much just work installing lighting and ventilation motors and on standby incase any machinery goes down. Not the easiest but its usually around 180k a year gross. With every third week off. I'm game.

plus makes my pension even bigger :D

This is a dream trip for me to go to Utah. There is a few others on the bucket list, but that one.
Thing is its an investment with what ever you put into a house (for the most part) all that in a garage is a investment. All in time. Im waiting for the market to cool a bit more. Hoping next year around this time I can start shopping for a place. Stuff in the GTA is crazy (as you know). 300k for a 600 square foot condo in Milton is ridiculous. Hoping to spend a bit more and get an acre in Halton somewhere... Thats the plan for now.

If skye and I get married she won't leave the city, she is inheriting a house in the city so no chance she'll leave. I'm starting to think its ok cause I work in the city and then can just have a place in the country for weekends and my shop.

But yes even the condo market is insane. Condos going up at dupont and spadina are going for $1000/sq ft

Utah and maybe colorado would be cool. Would love to go to Moab just for all the legendary wheeling there.
Would love to go to Australia too

I have a single car garage that I cant even use cause our boat takes up 90% of it. Having a large, flat driveway is super nice but after spilling 4L of trans fluid on it and all the other occasions where oil changes have been.. messy.. its looking a little rough.

I do all my service in the street now haha

Buddy of mine works in Halifax on the cranes that work the harbor for all the giant ships that come in with containers galore. He makes $70 an hour to sit on his ass and occasionally get up once or twice a day to troubleshoot an electrical problem with the cranes if something goes wonky. But thats it

Then you have a doppelganger lol

And welcome to TW, and if I may be so bold to speak for our southern Ontario friends here...welcome to the thread.

There's a lot of content here about meets, runs, camping, hardware, software, and shenanigans from time to time. Jump right in, the waters fine!
